Those of you good with graphics, specifically 3D modelling, might wanna check this out. There's a big contest for best scene done with PovRay, and the grand prize is a PC with these stats.

The first prize is a stunning Appro 64-bit Opteron workstation featuring:

Two AMD Opteron 250s processors.
Eight gigabytes of registered ECC DDR SDRAM.
One TB (terabyte) of 7200 RPM hard disk storage.
An NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000 video card.
One 19" LCD monitor, and
One 17" LCD monitor.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux v3.
Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse.
DVD/RW combo
This computer is also capable of running Windows XP (either the 32 or 64-bit edition). POV-Ray can run in 64-bit native mode on both Red Hat Linux for the AMD64 and Windows XP for the AMD64, and is capable of performing renders that would be impossible under 32-bit operating systems due to OS memory limitations.

No, you don't need an awesome PC to do awesome renders with POV. It's just a matter of letting it sit there for a while to render.

erm, but if u win, u probally will have a very good computer like most of us here at Novahq. How much i would like to have a shot at it, i would but i love my computer.

that's kinda like saying that you drive a porsche in a race, you wouldnt enter the race because if you won, your would win another porsche.

as if anyone in the world who owns a computer, wouldn't want that prize on offer! that's madness. that comp is FAR better than any comp owned by anyone here.
