Excellent post BHJ. I've always wanted to know that. But never got as far as having a layout and a working code.

OK I know everybody has graphics websites, but this is mainly just for practice. Check it out. All I have so far is the main page, no link will work.

My first real html site, so don't expect much

It looks pretty good, but you need to get your news so it fits inside the content box instead of spreading out the sides. Other than that, gj m8.

The content box is the middle where the TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT etc. is, you need to make it fit into the content box and not spread out beyond the edges of it. It will look alot better.

No offense, but I think the scrolling thingies on either side are very annoying and distracting.

I like the one on the left of affiliates.

I'd make em go slower though.

Dont use scrolling stuff. It is getting to much attention.
Just think... when you come on a page... where do you look at. Moving things is the first thing... thats because we learned that when we were very young :P

So you can better make it static

maybe remove the news scrollers and only list the 5 newest things... and moving news over to the left -- and affiliates to the right... -- well most important stuff = left, misc/not so important stuff=right. Basic rule of thumb i see (Keep affiliate scroller)

Hey black,

Majority of sites I've visited are designed keeping the attached template in mind. You have the basic idea but you need to make the center of the page more promanent for content and left and right side for not so important stuff.

Check out www.amazon.com, and other sites. You'll see what I mean.

Oh and disregard the lables on the layout.

Edit: OK this might sound stupid but first make the layout on Paint or a piece of paper. then take it from there.
