2 students missing after boating accident Published: May 5, 2007 at 6:49 PM PAUL SMITHS, N.Y., May 5 (UPI) -- Two students at an upstate New York college were missing Saturday after their canoe capsized on a lake next to the Paul Smith College campus. The missing students were in a group of six who went boating late Friday night, the college said in a release. Three boats, two canoes and a motor boat, overturned on St. Regis Lake shortly before midnight. The college identified the missing students as 20-year-old Sean Cornell of Manchester Center, Vt., and 18-year-old Lee Walker of Enosburg Falls, Vt. State police used scuba divers and a helicopter to search the lake Saturday, while rangers from the state Department of Environmental Conservation combed the lake's wooded shores. Several local fire departments and the college's security department were also involved in the search. Three of the students who survived the accident were treated and released at a local hospital.

Story from our news station:
Code:
Paul Smiths, New York - May 5, 2007 The body of a Vermont teenager has been pulled from a lake in the Adirondacks and another Vermonter remains missing following a canoe accident at Paul Smith's College late Friday night. Six students were dumped into Lower Saint Regis Lake when their boats overturned just off shore from campus at around 11p.m. Friday. Four students made it to shore. Two were not so lucky. Eighteen year-old Lee Walker of Enosburg Falls apparently drowned. His body was found Saturday afternoon. Another Vermonter, 20 year-old Sean Cornell of Manchester Center, remains missing. The group had gone canoeing to celebrate the last day of classes at the small Adirondack college. "They apparently took canoes from our campus, launched from campus and capsized," said Kenneth Aaron, a Paul Smith's College spokesman. Dive teams spent Saturday looking for the two missing students. A helicopter flew over-head as searchers combed the shores. Worried classmates looked on. Then the tragic discovery of Walker's body. "The campus is in a pretty somber mood," said Aaron. "This is a close knit place." As the day wore on, hopes of finding Cornell alive faded. Police have suspended the search for the missing Vermonter until Sunday.
