FireFox Tweak!!

Just found this on a forum and thought i'd share.

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now.

OK, IE might have security holes big enough to drive a tank though but if hackers spent the same amount of time attacking Firefox, you would have just as many problems.

Most websites are designed to work with IE because most people use IE. Firefox is fully HTML /W3C compliant, big deal, never had a problem looking at a website using IE.
I don't care how a webpage is created as long as I can see it.

WOW think of all the jobs I can do if my webpage loads half a second faster.

With my IE shell MAXTHON I have popup blocking, addblocking, activex blocking ........

Only the latest version Firefox v1.0 actually looks as if it might be usable.

no guys dont use it DO NOT use it. The more people use it the more it becomes interesting for bloody scriptkiddies to try to ruin my fun on it.

im using Mozilla ( big brother of FF, for more then a year now and i like it this way)

So i repeat DO NOT use Ff or you guys will ruin my surfing fun.

lol I'll say its way better then IE, and worth a shot. Dont try for 1 day and then say its crap. Use it for atleast 2 weeks and learn the functions, then decide if you wanna go back to the old M$ IE crap hacked browser, or stay with a fresh 1 that keeps bringing out patches as soon as there a fault found.

Wink

Well guys I have used a fair few browser in 30yrs+ of the old PC clones and there is only 1 thing I can say with any certainy.. IE is for suckers who like to be dictated to by MS & WANT their system to have ways in for kiddies (hackers, crackers, spamers, rippers and Grim Reapers). I don't know for sure if MS release software deliberately with errors/holes (cough, cough) but they also have so many dam patches to fix their software. Personally I love FF and have been using since it conception. Do yourselves a favour and make your own minds up, to many heros. Like we used to say in the Army, never jump into a pit with a man braver then you (or your a target)
have a Good one

Uncle BJ
