Definitely...I agree with Panther. Once ppl in the squad begin to move onto other things and forget about the game..>Squads suffer and break up...

A well though out Rank Structure will prevent people trying to control the squad.

i believe rules, ranks and regulations cause problems.

*PR* is over 5 years old now, we play for fun only. we have no 'leader' and pretty much the only rule we have is that no one cheats.

good communication helps, ie using forums, icq, voice comms, meeting in real life.

no communication means no squad.

i think dedication by the squad financier, a squad that has a .com/.net domain and paid hosting will last longer than a .tk on freewebs. People that pay for this sort of stuff are most often dedicated and will try to keep the squad going.

The squads name also has alot to do with it i think, any squad with something like "The Delta Slashers of Death" dont seem to last.

yeah something to keep the members interested, also people get bored of the games and stuff and leave. so lack of activity is a big one and lack of things happening in the squad ( scrims, amtchs, pratices, tourney's)

i to beleave this to, think a squad be better working together as a group.

remember you have no true leader when playing online you try to tell some one they have to be there at a set time to have a match and they really can't make it.

better if you have group of buddie or people you know in real life, and get together to do battle with other feels better. then have a guy you don't know from joe blow don't last to long.

There are too many reasons why squads break up to go into. I think the better question is to ask some of these squads,.. why have they been around for so long? I think if this question is asked, you will find a consistent theme. Dedication to the squad/dedication to each other. In other words, a close knit brotherhood of people with the same interestes. I have been with my squad for 3 years. I joined it in the ole DFLW days. The squad was ready to go under at that time but with a lil dedication and hardwork, we are now a very well respected group. VFA or victory force alliance came out of a squad called VF33 which has been around since DF1 and was one of the most feared at that time Which makes the technical age of VFA close to 6 years old. Quite an accomplishment. Probably one, if not the oldest squads still playing.

Yeah i think havein no fixed leaders is good, because then no one is really telling everyone what to do, When I'm leader of a squad i just tell the boys to do what they want and just post on the forum and play games set up matchs and stuff recruit and junk i dont force them to do anything.

Smile

All useful information for me as I've been invited to join a squad, but they guy setting the squad up says he wants guys who want to have fun with no headman and as we are all going to be local, we can get together for a beer and a chat.

Regards

VFA has no leader. When there is an issue or topic thats needs decision, we all vote. If you don't vote, then you can't bitch about the decision. There are some people in the squad that have jobs to do, but other than that, it runs smoothly.
