I just got a second pc and was wanting to know waht i needed to run lan from it to the other one so me and my dad can fight each other.

if its just two computers a switch would be okay, but if you want to eventualy add more, you need a router, wireless is better but if you dont want to spend the extra $ try a router and ethernet cables, if you got XP it will just about atomaticly detect the connections

All yah need it is a switch, network cards in both machines and then Net Cable. You only need a router if you are to be playing online

no if it's only two machines just get a crossover cable (they sell them at best buy) and the two nic cards this shouldn't cost you anymore than $50 US.......don't need the switch if it's only two.....anymore than two and you'll need a hub, switch, or switched-router

Yes. Well if he later wants to hook more than two computers up or access the net on both he is going to have to do it the switch way :P
