i tried Nero .. it didn't work at all ..

but my brother does all that stuff .. but first you need a dvd-rom and a dvd burner ...

then you need a program that like .. converts everything frame by frame .. i think it's called DVD Shrink .. it makes 2 folders ..

then he uses some other program .. Drag to Disk i think it's called .. after everythings converted ..

sorry i can't be more specific .. ill ask him when he comes home

make sure the disks are really clean befor you burn em .. slightest screw up on em will make little gliches when u go to watch it

This is what I do to get backup's of my movies:

Download DVD Decryptor. Might have to search google!

Decrypt the movie using this program to your hard drive.

If the total size of all the files that dvd decryptor put on your computer is MORE then 4.3gb then I use DVD shrink to reduce the size. Otherwise I just burn it with nero. Most movies now days are stored on dual layer so there arount 7.5~8.

In DVD shrink there are also options to remove the junk, like other languages, extra content etc etc so allow better picture quality after it's been shunk. Although I never really noticed any quality changes when shrinking them it's not a bad idea. You just have to remember to keep hitting forward on your remote untill the movie plays .

Search for DVD Shrink guide on google, there are a few really good ones.

DVD Decrypter did copy all of it to the HHD without any error's and did it under 8-12min's. i play it using PowerDVD without any trouble at all, in some ways it even ran better then the DVD in the tray.

blow me away.

there is a draw back not a big one, i need to get a bigger HHD only have 22gb of free space out of 40gb, i could burn them to a DVD double layer maybe the one DVD place on HHD was like 6.7GB. but my Norton Goback 4.0 taken a dump (limited 8gb of history) i had to clear history log not a brainer. i think i do it when i find a really good movie i like to use a lot.

yea i found some other DVD software to use here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DVD_Decrypter.htm

for them who may not know the tream DL it not for Download for DVD it means Double Layer

Stander DVD-R or DVD-RW holds 4.5GB avg
Double Layer "DVD-R DL" holds about 8.4GB Avg

as i know there is no DVD-RW Double layer 8.5GB at all, i did try to find it but nope don't think no one make a DVD-RW DL at all.

there are two type of DVD Burners out there one is stander DVD Burners that only do 4.5GB dvd's and there are the DVD Double layer DVD burners. they all so burn CD/minnie CD/ pocket CD and RW types.

I meant does the Shrinker Tril posted allows the Decrypted DVD to be broken in two or more parts so one can burn more than one CD, hence, multi-session.

I've run into a problem where I can shrink the DVD but since the movie is so long I can't burn it on a single CD. For example, I've a CD for 40 mins. I can Decrypt, Shrink and burn on a single 4.7 GB DVD. However, I've another DVD which is about 51 mins and it won't fit on a single DVD. Hence, my questions about Multi-session

Mind you I'm doing all this so I can run a copy of the movie and keep the original somewhere safe.

man this is sweet to i made a copy to my HHD and to a DVD-RW 4.5Gb the real DVD was 7.69GB it cut it down around 3gb under and i was thinking it will look like crap boy, i was wrong about that still look the same, i can even edited out all them extra languages too.

i told my brother about it he has a Van with a DVD player for his kids, he getting some DVD-RW to use in the DVD-player so the kids can watch DVD's without breaking the DVD or it go bad on him do to one of them kids doing something with it.

he been looking for something like this for a long time.

Ps he has around about 8-10 kids to handle. he so lucky.
seems every one of his wife side of the family like to leave thier kids with them on the weekend so he take them out some times.

OK there seems to be some kinda wierd stuff going on with the DVD backups I made. They seem to start OK on a regular DVD player but seems to be skipping from one chapter to another. Any ideas?

Works fine on PC.

I didn't edit anything. All I did was shrunk the movie to 4.25 GB from 8 GB!

I think I'm going to try DVD Shrink.
