you Cdrom is bad take it back get a replacement for it runnig to high or to fast, its going way to fast my Cd writer runs at 52x and i never had it blownway Cd or break them up the RPM is set to high going faster the 52x more like 80x faster. call 1-818-878-0325 ask for mike at Novalogic see if they will replace you TS Cd ok, but before you use it get that Cd writer replace it should read at 4x and writer it 52x.

ok i replaced it this morning with a hp dvdrw because of the slower max speed from my other hp pc the first time i took it back exchanged it for another memorex 52x (the inside of a cd rom isnt a pretty site after a cd explodes in it) all my other cds played fine in it dfbhd cd lived in there with no problems could it be the name brand or a driver issue with windows xp or a cd defect i mean i dont want to get another memorex if its a memorex problem oh and chief thanks for the name and number ill give him a buzz in the mean time going to wal mart to get another copy of team sabre to get my fix yes my name is mrastlin and i have a problem im a df junkie and team sabre only cost $20.00 thanks for listening all

mrastlin, could you possibly post further information on the memorex drive that blew the cd? Just so we know what to keep an eye out for. Because a Cdrw going that fast would seem to be a defect at the factory, and not an adjutment made later.

I just want to know what model it was, because I imagine that many of us on here would like to know so we can stay away from a possibly defective drive.

I don't know how many of you watch Mythbusters on The Discovery Channel, But I do remember them covering the exact same thing, and it can be quite dangerous for a cd to explode in the drive.
