Transfering files in Windows7?

If you are going to transfer files from and external drive into your new Windows7 installation there can be issues such as copy failing mid way, missing or deleted files, files left behind and other security and ownership issues.

(I have had problems myself using an HP Simplesave external USB drive)

To bypass these possible problems:

Open an elevated command prompt, as in previous thread :
Firefox 5 current issues fix

Then to copy very large archives we need the more powerful command "robocopy" instead of "copy"

robocopy "N:\DirectoryName\" "C:\DestinationName" /mir /s
