I saw this earlier. I haven't read that article, but isn't it supposed to be used by current isp's so that it's more accessible to everyone?

It can be used by current ISP's and startups I believe. I think the purpose is to light a fire under the current ISP's arses so the USA has access to faster speeds. Apparently we have very slow internet here.

My 10megs does seem not enough at times lol...When netflix is running, itunes downloading and Live is going...

Nah I'm on broadband, and the speed of it doesn't worry me - it's actually the data cap, for that matter.

Anyways, 1Gbps... freaking wicked.

It wouldn't make any difference if every ISP advertised "1Gbps" you are still restricted by how good your line and exchange are.

BT have been promising 8MB connection for over 3 years but my exchange will only work at just over 2MB.

I doubt you will be seeing Google vans digging up your roads installing cable to supply there super fast connection for a very long time.
