Burst and Auto AI Bug
I have both DFLW and DFTFD, and I've found that in both games, when the AI is equipped with any weapon set to 'Burst' or 'Auto,' they'll fire a single shot, followed by a split second pause, and then fire all the rest of their shots in a straight-ahead path with perfect accuracy parallel to flat ground.
Does anybody else suffer this bug? Has anybody created a patch to stop the damn bug from happening? |

I guess it's just a case of the AI's attributes (accuracy, fire timer, etc.).

So... say the AI is at the top of a steep hill, and I'm at the very bottom...
AI shoots down at me, with a random angle deviance due to inaccuracy; perhaps landing the bullet a meter or two in the ground to my right... but then looks up to the horizon and fires off 6 or 7 more shots just for the fun of it in a perfect straight line toward the horizon - not even accuracy 1 would be that off... but then if they were, firing all the other shots perfectly through the same path would contradict such a low accuracy. That happens because of attributes? I somehow don't think so... |

It's just how the AI was done. NovaLogic's games haven't really been all that "good" in terms of AI.

Oh well. XD
I was just hoping I could encourage someone to do something about eet, because I can't exactly make a patch myself... and I would if I could because this particular bug really pisses me off. Dx Anyways, at least I can make sure all my custom missions have AI carrying weapons set to 'Semi,' so it's not all bad. |

CajNatalie, I've noticed this bug as well, and it can't be explained away as lack-luster A.I. It is an abysmal bug that only a total lack of testing could have let slip through into ANY final product. I for one am not buying any more NovaLogic software until they go back and fix some of these simple yet pathetic bugs in their older games.
Once they clean DFLW of the retarded bugs that probably would have taken minutes to fix, then I'll consider buying newer titles like BHD or JO. NOVALOGIC: CLEAN UP YOUR QUALITY CONTROL! DF:LW ?BUG? FIX WISH LIST... (ACTUALLY AN ULTIMATUM) Many of these can't be considered to be bugs so much as absurd design decisions 1) AI auto and burst fire bug. 2) Invisible Helicopters in Multiplayer bug. 3) AI prone and crouch display in Multiplayer bug. (*shudders at how this was allowed to occur*) 4) AI cant use mounted weapons bug. 5) AI overshoot waypoints in red-alert bug. 6) AI (All-weapons) refire-rate bug. (they reload and refire much to quickly: especially using at4) |

NovaLogic aren't going to fix their older titles. And it's more complicated than just fixing a bug and releasing a patch. When they do stuff like that, it takes an incredible amount of time. Besides, the AI couldn't have been exactly perfect at the time - LW was released in 2000 - did you think that computers had beefy processing power that time for very intelligent AI?
