Build = epic fail = epic win

I finally got the comp to work! But the first boot-up was epic fail.

At first it didn't even start up. Thanks to luke_nadewalker, we found out that I completely effed up and didn't plug the additional 4-pin into the 24-pin on the motherboard (there was a completely different 4-pin on the left of the mobo). I was told I could've nearly fried the mobo.

Later on we were investigating beep codes, and found that the graphics card, and RAM weren't even seated correctly? And I had major effin' trouble trying to get the 4 corners of the heatsink in. Anyways, an hour or so later luke told me how these things work and I finally got it in!

We found out earlier that the CPU temperature, was at 100 degrees celcius! Holy poo, I know. When we finally started getting things going good, the temperature for CPU and mobo was about 40 degrees. After plugging in the side fan, it somewhat stayed at 40 degrees, but I'm keeping the side fan on.

But, the XP I got sent to me somewhat failed in the setup twice, so it leads me to think either it's real scratched, or that it screwed up during the burning. That's all I need going at this moment (lol the disc seemed to have fallen out in the parcel ). I could be wrong though - just might need the clean the CD, maybe one last time.

Big thanks to Barra-WTF for sending me all the parts.

I second that! When I first built mine from scratch it scared the crap out of me. Luckily I was taking an A+ certification class so I got through it ok.

I've only built three from scratch.

Yep, it was scary. I wasn't too suprised, as you guys did say the first build sometimes doesn't turn out that right.

So yeah, as I said I was completely lucky. Like I said in my first paragraph I plugged the 4-pin into the processor and could have fried everything, and the heatsink (which ath said was the hardest for him ) wasn't evenly locked down, so the CPU was at boiling point.

I might have to wait another week or so to get a new XP sent to me, because the one that was sent gave me errors during install, so we all reckon it wasn't burned correctly.

Oh man, I'm gonna have a lot of new games to try out. I've never played any "beefy" games before - no, not on this GeForce 5500 I haven't.
