the unregistered version can render at a maximum size of 1280x960...lol

anyway, try adding some surface textures next time. grey is pretty plain

ahh ... sorry, your first mistake was converting it to a GIF !!! .... save it as a jpg or png and your quallity should be much better, GIF files cant cope with high detail, jpeg and png can. GIF can only cope small detial and large flat colour areas. Heh ....
Still, good work for your first, tryout different skys, that would look wicked with a dark sunset on it ... good work man
