Thank you for the detail info log. I hear you are getting an error when your online or close down. The usrmlnka.exe process is required for your computer to communicate successfully with your US Robotics modem. Please visit the USR website and download the XP file Windows XP Installation Files - Version 170 (5.22.170).

Since the USR5699B is software-based, please set the flow control parameter from "Hardware" to "Software"(X-On/X-Off) in the modem's properties.

In Windows XP, click on Start, click on Control Panel> click on Phones and Modem Options icon> click on Modem tab> Highlight the Modem> click Properties> click Advanced tab> Change Default Preferences is at the bottom of the box. Look for Flow Control pull-down menu, select X-On/X-Off, click OK to save changes.

step: 1

Step: 2

Step: 3

above

Also, please "disable" any anti-virus/spyware software prior to installing the driver.

The support site for the 56K PCI Faxmodem for Windows (USR5699B) is located at http://www.usr.com/support/product-t...asp?prod=5699b

Thank you for contacting U.S. Robotics.
If you need further assistance, you can also reach us online at www.usr.com/support Please include all previous replies when/if responding to this message.

Sincerely,

Richard M

i made a note in the image 50.600 its is mostly stander dailup speed for most ISP service, you can double check with them on this before making any changes to the speed setting.

southern bell made it eat the dust, gone out and got a SuperMax Pro 56K PCI card.

Model: SM56PCI PRO HCF MODEM

it seem to be working a lot better then the U.S. Robotics model: USR5699B crappy one.
