Lcd Crt

Do you think LCD television monitors are better? Or the classic CRT's that hold more space. I would go for CRT because with LCD you have to replace the backlight every couple years but the LCD monitors look good. Especially those nineteen inch quality ones.

im not even going to replace the backlight, because thats more expensive then just buying a new 1.
And to say its not reason to buy then because something can break down after many years. Ahwell so be it, everything has gotta breakdown sometime.

But nowadays the LCD screens are quite good, you dont have to be afraid of it breaking up within a few years.

If you work allot with graphics and need more accurate colours ,a CRT is probably the best display to use.

LCD monitors are now becoming as good as CRT's for all other uses.
LCD's use less energy, take up less space, easier to move around and give a sharper image.

OK eventually the backlight will become worn out and you will get more dead pixels but a CRT will also degrade.

I have both 17'' CRT and LCD monitors ,when I compare them I am surprised how badly the CRT looks.
The LCD has a much sharper image.

If you are going to use it for gaming, try to get a LCD with a responce time of 16ms or less.

will probably get LCD next upgrade, but as if yet my CRT still has a better image than LCD screens.

i was waiting for LCD's to get a response time of less than 10ms (for gaming), which has now gone and 3ms panels are available now

i also would only want 19" LCD but than can give a res of 1600x1200 which is not available yet, so they have some work to do to get my business (pixels still to big on LCD's over 17")

will that thing fit through ur front door? lol

i use a 15inch LCD, and i think they are much better, i used to get headaches off a CRT easily after awhile (dont say its my eyes, they r perfect) as soon as i got the LCD a few years ago havnt suffered any headaches off it.

RollEyes Your Say

Your say

LCD? CRT. Well anyway I think in the future LCD and CRT would degrade. Maybe a water mineral display.

Have you tried to crank up the refresh rate? Most of the times a lower refresh rate causes headaches.

havnt used a CRT mintor since i was 11, and back then finding the on/off button was a challenge for me lol, i use the refresh of 75Hz, i find that the 72Hz one actually makes me have a bit of a sore eye...

THe LCD screens usually fail after around 5-6 years, and when it happens its usually the inverter or the inverter cable. Simple to fix if you know what your doing

I fix laptops each day at work experience and 8/10 times, its the inverter or the inverter cable gone wrong.

evryone in this house has crt's but i bought meself a nice lcd bout 6 months ago.

tis a 17" 16ms response lcd with a viewable area of 17". i was doubtful as to wether or not 16ms would be quick enough for gaming, but so far its been brilliant. a lot of people say crt's are better quality. but at this years atinof meetup, i personally think my monitor had the best quality picture there.. apart from poo's 24" crt lol

ehh, when looking for a lcd... lookout for the response time.

Some say, they got a 8ms response, others 16 or even higher. But there is a big difference in it.

First of all, how is the response time. Black->White->Black, or Grey->Grey.
Second, some screens have a jumping response time. So it goes from 8ms to 100ms, up and down. When looking at such a jumping response time... it isnt very good. Then u can better have a stable response time of 16ms

There are also a few different panels behind it.
TN, MVA/PVA and IPS

I found all this out when i was looking myself for a lcd screen. Got a whole review about lcd screens... but its in dutch.
For the dutch people, here it is:
