Powell has said that he dosent have any intentions of running, i think that hes sick and tired of politics and will retire into the speaker/think-tank circuit.

I reckon its reasonabely safe to assume that hillary clinton will run for the democrats in 2008. At this point im backing Senator McCain to run for the republicans, id guess with guiliani as running mate.

By all means come to australia, i was just wondering the thinking behind it, youre not the first american to say that and ive always wonderd how the thought process happens to come to that conclusion.

New Zealand isnt exactly the shining example of Modern Day consevatism either...

Creating your own country is a way to go, someone did it here in Australia, plug in Hutt River Provence into google for some intersting information.

Hahaha, that would be interesting. I just would want to go to NZ because it is very pretty. Here it is brown all the time.

Not as bad as moving to lets say....CUBA.

He was born in New York. I read his book (I suggest it to anyone. It's a great read written by a great man)

I don't see Colin Powell running at all. He seemed tired of politics as soon as he was sec. of state, and I really don't think he's president material. He's a military man, plain and simple.

McCain and Rudy is indeed the rumor floating around the republican circles here in Oklahoma. Mike, I must compliment you on your knowledge of the US, her politics, and the issues here. You are by far more informed than most citizens in this country.

And Ath, good luck, I've heard it's tough to get into Australia to live there. Mike could probably fill you in

And if Hillary runs, I'll be spending time on the presidential campaign of the republicans. I'm no stranger to the campaign scene, and I'll do whatever it takes to keep that socialist she-devil out of the whitehouse again.

He is Italian, but I think it was his grandparents or great grandparents who emigrated here from Italy.

Hehe, I think that being president is over rated. Honestly he really can't do whatever he wants. That is the whole point of checks and balances. I think that it would suck to be President because you are the #1 target if anything goes wrong. Even if it is not your fault.

Very true. And, in all actuality, he has little real power, just very big influence. However, the dangerous power he does wield is to appoint people to true places of power. It is there that Presidents can be dangerous.
