The french people are extreemly good when it comes to military issues. just their electronics that can fail at times, times where it shouldnt fail. Maybe they have sorted that out now, although Sweden (SAAB) will be supplying that so i guess its not too much of a worrie!

What I am saying is that old is not necessarily a bad thing.

An F-16 and take on pretty much any airplane out there except maybe the Mig 29.

Yes but you said that why pay so much for this, a F-16 only costs $10

Thats what i ment, part of why it costs onle $10 is thats its not as advanced as a craft thats flying on its own without any controls, its old and its been sold for a long time, its not a question of F-16s ability.

True that, stupid government selling our defense technology.

That would be cool to see that thing in action.

So if it is not radio controled I guess it relies a lot on GPS and that sort of thing. It must be programmed before each flight.

I think that they should make fighters remote controlled and you fly them like you would in a flight simulator.

The point is to not need a "live" pilot so I guess radio controlled would kinda break that path. Also you would still have to send the signal through satalites.

Yeah its a programed route, the rest is done automaticly, like avoiding objects, landing, take off ect.

Yeah that would be ok for a bomber but...if something else was in the air trying to shoot it down...would it be able to manuver to avoid that?

Using radars, that shouldnt be a problem. Atleast not in thearie, radars are used to avoid static objects so it should work.

this is a turnaround

i would have thought ath would be a bit more excited about this and ST would be the one to have concerns about it. Makes me wonder, if this had have been american technology to be used in Iraq would we have swapped voews are we that nationalistic?

I just have a problem with Programmed pilots

I don't think that the radar alone would be good enough to aviod a missle or some other airplane.
