heres a more accurate fatality list from sky news... been updated on the hour all night..

"Some 30,000 are still missing on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands near the epicentre with some reports estimating 3,000 dead.

In Sri Lanka more than 11,000 people died. A large number were children and the elderly.

More than 10,000 are feared dead in Indonesia, many in the Aceh province near the northern tip of Sumatra Island.

More than 6,300 were killed in south-east India and around 2,000 people in the south of Thailand, mainly foreign tourists.

The surge of water also hit the neighbouring country of Burma, where 30 people were killed.

In Malaysia, 52 people are reported to have drowned on the tourist island of Penang. Many of them were foreign tourists swimming or riding jetskis.

In the Maldives, 43 were killed after water inundated the low-lying string of islands.

At least 100 people are feared dead in Somalia.

i dont think the san andreas will be affected as it was in indian plate subducting under the burma plate that loks like what trigered the earthquake, the san andreas falls within the earthquakes shadow zone i think. Local Aftershocks are very likely to happen steadily for the next few days as the boundaries 'settle' again.

Australia has sent 4 Hercules with med teams and supplies (water, containers, temp. shelter etc). Most major countries are doing things to help.

There was a member of this board who was in Indonesia, anyone remember who they were/ifthere ok?

man thats old it will never die we will aways hear it for next 20yrs from now.

and this tidal Wave on it death toll is way above them who die in 9/11,

here something you like to know they says there maybe a after shock heading to USA Calif soon next day or two been on the news.

communing:
9/11 and this tidal Wave both people die from something they did not ask for. mass death toll is never a happy thing its a sad thing and there is no rat race for it ethers. over there its really sicken to see dead bodys laying around for 2-5days the smell will knock you over not to say what they may look like ether way a lot of countrys got it by this tital wave it not a sweet thing. its new and it on top of thing as for 9/11 will its dead now days and not hot new's at all.

iof any one can give a small amount of love to them who need help give to the Red cross who are there helping them out. http://www.redcross.org/

new's from redcross:
Powerful earthquake, tsunamis strike South Asia, leaving thousands dead, injured and missing

Sunday, December 26, 2004 — The largest earthquake to strike the globe since 1964 has caused devastating tsunami waves that have killed thousands in south Asia. The 8.9-magnitude quake hit December 26 off the coast of Indonesia, triggering these extremely large waves that have brought massive flooding, damage and loss of life in the region.
Waves as high as 20 feet have crashed into the coastal areas near the Bay of Bengal. Among the worst affected countries are Sri Lanka and India, as well as Indonesia, Maldives and Thailand. Reports are that thousands of people are missing, and it is possible that the number of dead may tragically rise in the coming days.

International Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in south Asia have begun to mobilize staff and volunteers to affected areas to assist with the immediate needs. Emergency assessment and first-aid teams have already reached some of the affected areas.

“The situation is fluid, with so many people affected in so many areas of southeast Asia, and it is likely that relief teams there may need many different types of assistance in the coming days,” said Matthew Parry of the International Disaster Response Unit at the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross continues to maintain contact with its partners on the ground and is prepared to support operations with relief supplies, financial assistance or personnel as requested by our sister International Red Cross and Red Crescent societies there.

The American Red Cross is not able to accept small, individual donations or collections of items for this crisis. Financial support is the best form of assistance those wishing to help can provide.

You can help those affected by this crisis and countless others around the world each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance, and other support to those in need. Call 1-800-HELP NOW or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish). Contributions to the International Response Fund may be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013. Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting www.redcross.org.

calm down chief...both are horrific tradegys and none of the victims deserved it, nor their families

as i read this thread every post i got to the death count was higher, i was in a state of shock

it is really sad to see that, everyone just needs to say a little word of prayer for all the families and even to those who could be stranded alive somewhere

CNN News' reported at this time there is around 56.000 people who die at this time body count.

Attachment is a SS of this report:

9.0 is a super big under water it even worst then on land waves can ripe out whole beach areas like crazy and a lot of time there no warning it coming if it hit really fast.

3.5 is like a knock on the door 5.0 house will shake some, 7-8 houses and roads ways can be knock down and some area the ground will sink wholes houses under 8.5 and up whole city's will be can be rip apart by it.

9.0 under the water (out in sea) lower it is (deep-sea bottom) the bigger the wave will be, if it way out from land the waves can be really higher when it hit land. 9.0 is really super bad earth quake.

Resources to make a donates and news full story on this Asia tsunamis.
Link: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2004/tsunami.disaster/

spare what you can make a donates or keep track what is going on there. if you can spare 5min of time pray for them who have die and them who are trying to stay alive there.
===========================================
By CNN:
The world's most powerful earthquake in more than 40 years struck deep under the Indian Ocean off the west coast of Sumatra, triggering massive tsunamis that obliterated villages and seaside resorts in several countries across southern and Southeast Asia.

Tourists, fishermen, homes and cars were swept away by walls of water that rolled across the Bay of Bengal, unleashed by the 9-magnitude quake.
