It's also hard to get info on velocity of the Remington 870 on the Net too...
One site said it was 40, do you think it's right? I need serious help lol. Chris

You do know that the weapon itself has no velocity. Its the projectile...
Lol...couldnt help that. I know ive been doing the same with my weapons . Just produced my second succesful BFV map. Its so awesome that im releasing it to the public. I have screenshots, but im not gonna spam the place out with em. Its called 'Delta Creek' and, like the name applies, has a walkable creek going straight down the middle of the map. Its very foggy, and both main bases are situated on high mesas overlooking the creek below. The mesas are fortified with barbedwire and sandbags, as well as a pair of stationary M60s. Playing it with the bots is just insane. I died more times than anyone else. The battle raged for the creek itself. It was a damn nightmare! But testing it did reveal to me some problems I had overlooked previously. Bots weren't using stationary M60s very well. So i simply solved that and there yee go. So i think my AI tweaking is coming to an end. I mean it this time... |

Well, how far do the projectiles go Imao?
Meh, I'll leave it for now. Still waiting for an answer by Mauser regardless. Nice SSs BTW Grenademan. Chris

lol, well i think the velocity of a 12ga in the rem 870 is around about 1250fps to 1500fps depending on the shell. and if ya use shot the max effective range is around 50m -100m depending on the barrel length and if the barrel is choked and if ya are using slugs. and also depends on if it is 00 or something else.
lot of varables in a shotgun. |

Found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotgun_shell Here's the wiki for it too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remington_870 It just doesn't tell the velocity lol. I think it's because there's more than one velocity depending on things, like you said. I downloaded the official manual expecting some useful info, but no! On one site it said that the shotgun has 1,175fps velocity, now I'm only good at metres! How the heck do we convert this? I've seen a lot of different velocities lol. This one here says 70 metres for the Remington 870: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Militar...ment_of_Israel So, estimating, how far would it generally go in metres? Chris

umm, the way i did it was to 3.28 witch is how many feet in a meter devided by the velocity in FPS = the velocity in MPS.
i had to create a formula to do this in BHD, like ya got a round with a velocity of 1500FPS ya take that and devide it by 3.28 and ya get 457.31 meters per second just say 458MPS to omit the decimal points. or to find the FPS ya take the 458 and ya multiply that by 3.28 and ya get the origional 1500FPS+2 and just round to the nerest tenth i think and get 1500. so the 1,175 FPS would be 358.23MPS . 70m is cloae to the range in effectiveness if ya are using shot, or if ya have a rifled barrel and using slugs and a hot round ya can get 100-150m. there is a shotgun that has a rifled barrel but cant remember the name of it and ya can hit at 150m with it. |

So is 0.3048 the same as 3.28? I'm gonna leave the shotgun velocity as it is just like the W300. The W300 didn't have much info about it on the Net while this Remington... well, there are lots of velocities for it lol. I'm gonna do the velocity for the M9 Beretta right now lol. It says that it's 1160fts so I'll have to use your formula to do that, lol. *Edit: I did what you said and I got 0.002827... etc. Chris

dont think so, i think if memory serves corectly . the 3 is 3 ft and the .28 is twentyeight hundreths of a foot.
like .005 is five thousandths of an inch or .000127 of a meter. well what is the 0.3048 mesured in, meters , feet , ? Last edited by Mauser 98K; 03-09-2007 at 01:58 PM. |

well if converting between meters and to feet then 0.3048 is roughly 1 foot or .3048 of a meter

Okay.
I'm just gonna look on other sites for the m/s for the M9. If you want, you can try and convert the fts for me. * Edit: Well, Nova got the velocity right for that gun... Chris

ya can do it with a calculator but 1 wat it will do that but reverse the numbers and it will come out rite. like instead of hiting 3.28 first ya would do it like 1160FPS and devide it by the 3.28 witch would give ya 353.65 mps |

I got 353.blah blah lol but who cares about the decimals. I'll still keep the M9 velocity on 365 just incase.
I just tweaked the AI damage numbers for the weapons and divided the numbers by two and had them replace the old ones. Just one thing though lol. I left the AI damage for the Remington at 12, which is low (default). Considering the Remington is a shotgun, it packs one hell of a punch. I'm just trying to think what gun in the game would do as much damage as the Remington... I might also tweak the damages for when playing MP too. Chris

Well, I just halfed the AI damage for the .50cal lol. The gun that I left was the shotgun as even if it had an AI damage rate of 12 which is kinda low, in the game, one shot kills the AI, so it kinda feels like it's on 20 or something.

AI damage is too high in Nova's games lol. One shot from a CAR15 means death lol... even in the legs!
Well, I think 12 is still too high in the game so I lowered the damage to 6 lol. That means the Colt .45 is officially stronger lol. Chris

lag bomb from hell, battlefield 2 style.
ya can tell i was bored ,lol and there is an attatchment in the zip folder of a suped up dunebuggy, it will go bout 115mph and ya can powerslide it around corners, lol any1 who is interested just download the zip and unzip it to your desktop and then cut and past it in the JEEP_FAAV folder in the mods/ObjectsServer/vehicles/Land/JEEP_FAAV, it will replace the JEEP_FAAV. TWEAK file so make a backup of it just in case ya want to uninstall it, this is for single player , dont know if it will let ya use in multiplayer being i cant play it MP. remember, make a backup of your JEEP_FAAV.TWEAK in a seperate folder. |

Woah...how long did it take you to get all that in perfect shape?
Ive got a sudden unexpectd urge to play one of my small maps "Battle for Do Khan". Its a smaller version of the larger "Do Khan" map. It has only two bases seperated by a shallow river. Each side has stationary weapons and a compliment of vehicles to duke it out over the river. And by duke, i friggin mean rip each other to pieces. Its vicious and nasty, the most savage conflictation ive ever seen in BFV to date.. |
