Formatting HDD With XP
I have winXP and 2 hard drives... I want to format the hard drive with WinXP on it and reinstall... On the other HDD I have WinME. There never used to be a problem but now when i use my slave for primary and primary for a slave it dont get reconized? All the jumper settings and everything were right so im pretty sure thats not the problem.. any suggestions?

P, does the BIOS see the hard drives? If so, make sure the Windows ME partition is set as active. BTW, are you trying to boot off the Windows ME or XP drive?
Need to know this.

Yes my I have done this a lot of time when I had winME on both hard drives.. I usually formatted every month or so.. when I did that I would take out my Slave and make it the Master and take out the Matser and make it a Slave, Then I could just format within windows.. All the jumper settings are right but it dont seem to reconize it.. Nope it dont show up on the BIOS screen. Really weird.. mabee it has somthing to do with WinXP particioning my HDD when I installed it.. I have 2 particions on there now.. FAT32 and NTFS...
This is what I have, Booting from WinME HDD Primary HDD has WinXP (no other - XP auto particion?) Secondary HDD has WinME (no other - No particion) Jumper settings are correct DOS dont reconize it Went into DOS to make sure its set to auto rec but still no luck. I was just thinking mabee takeing out 1 particion and then trying it? Mabee that has somthing to do with it.. I have never worked with particioned HDD's so I really have no clue why its not showing up

use FAT32 if ur HDD is less than 32GB use FAT32 if u want to install more than one operating system use NTFS if if ur HDD is larger than 32GB and u r only running 1 OS. |
