Delta Force Realism death.
This is a note of how realism died in DF:
DF1: People die with one hit. If the person is wearing armour it can protect. Helicopter's rotor can be disabled to shoot it down. (Am I right?) DF2: Pros: People die with one hit. If the person is wearing armour it can protect. Helicopter's rotor can be disabled to shoot it down. (Am I right?) DFLW: People die with one hit. If the person is wearing armour it can protect. Helicopter's rotor can be disabled to shoot it down. DFTFD: People die with one hit. If the person is wearing armour it can protect. Helicopter's rotor can be disabled to shoot it down. DFUW: Health is present making it arcade. (IDK about helicopters). DFBHD: People without armour can be killed with one hit but armoured people and player have health. Health-ups are present. Helicopters can't be shot by hitting the rotor. DFBHD-TS: People without armour can be killed with one hit but armoured people and player have health. Health-ups are present. Helicopters can't be shot by hitting the rotor. DFX: People die with one hit but player doesn't (Can survive a hit in the foot). Health-ups are present. Even unarmed civilian vehicles are immune to small arms fire. The good thing is that crew knock out is present. Helicopters can't be shot by hitting the rotor. Friendly fire is not possible. Crew knock out is present. DFX2: Every person has health. Health-ups are not present but players heal up automatically when under cover. Team mates are immune in default missions. Helicopters can't be shot by hitting the rotor. Friendly fire is not possible. Even unarmed civilian vehicles are immune to small arms fire. Crew knock out is present. (Why I can't post without prefix?) |

Hi there, sry but it never was realistic, it's a game based on warfare with a set of arbitrary rules that have evolved over time and it's an excellent series of games because of it you must agree.
As for realism? When you question realism in a game you should think of how realism can ruin a game, it's not just a question of realism alone when deciding how a game should be. Of course there's nothing wrong with it done well but... Start comparing some titles and you'll soon see why it can really be an issue. Sometimes new tech makes up for it, sometimes it doesn't. Judgements about realistic "effects" in a simulation are personal opinion and as such these judgements are also personally subjective, especially with regard to "realism" and therefore judging a game in this manner is a moot point, like judging a bullet by it's calibre. |
