DFLW on Win7 64 bit?
So, yesterday I installed DFLW on my new laptop for nostalgia purposes.
The main menu comes in without problems, I start a mission, but when it loads in, I can only see the upper half of the screen, and the game lags horribly. I tried launching in compatibility mode, but it didn't work, I also have the latest Nvidia drivers. My computer specs shouldn't be a problem, I can run much newer games without problems.Any idead on how to fix this guys? |

That one seems hard to diagnose. I run LW on Windows 10 x64 without any compatibility settings.
When the game launches and goes off screen, try pressing Alt+Enter to see if it will go full screen. I think it has something to do with High DPI displays although it works just fine on my laptop. You may also try setting the laptop resolution to the same as the game runs (800x600) I think is the default and try launching it with that.

Does your laptop use Nvidia Optimus?

When I pressed Alt+Enter, nothing changed. Also, I set my laptop's screen resolution to 800x600, then started the game, which also had 800x600 resolution set in the options, but nothing.Everything is the same: the game laggs very badly, and I can only see the upper half of the screen. Also, sometimes the only thing that loads in from the map is the sky texture, the terrain, the GUI, and everything else is missing.I tried reinstalling as well, but that did not work either. |

No, at least I don't know about it.
I have an NVidia Quadro FX 770M driver, with 512MB memory. |

Sorry if I wrote something wrong about the driver, I'm not a big tech-guy, I barely know anything about computers :/

A diagnosis may be possible by viewing some of the configuration files. Could you please post a copy of the contents of dflw.cfg. You will find it in the game folder. Click on the file and when prompted, select to open files of format (type) .cfg with notepad. From then you can just click on it to open and copy/paste the text into a post here. |

PART 2
Could you please add your laptop default screen size and the other resolutions it's capable of. (sizes in pixels) |

Hi! stompem

hw3d_deviceno = 2
Implies you have more than one display system? hw3d_res Display values are set to 0 Should be 1 hw3d_guid and hw3d_name Not showing I think that's because you're using an onboard GFX system which the game cannot detect. Try this, hopefully it will force the resolution for now. Select the 1024 option if you get past the test. Find the position of this script in the CFG and replace the existing. Then set the dflw.cfg file properties to read only and let's see what happens. hw3d_res640x480 = 1 hw3d_res800x600 = 1 hw3d_res1024x768 = 1 game_res = 6 no_anim = 1 window_size = 1 Note: Did you say the Editor is doing it as well? - That would mean it's probably not the game. Have you tried running the game with the integreted graphics?

I forgot to mention to try setting hw3d_device number to 1
(as far as I know this is tells the game to use the default device) hw3d_deviceno = 1 |

I did not try the editor yet, I just said it because if the game does not work, I won't be able to play the maps I make.
Anyways, I'll try what you said now and see if it works! |

Still not working I did everything as you said
I attach a screenshot from the game, so you can see what's going on exactly: |

The issue needs further debugging in a similar environment. So it's a good idea to post as much as you can from now. What are your laptop specifications in a bit more detail please, Model GFX CPU and RAM mainly. Also how did you install DFLW? If it's a copy over from another PC installation there could be issues and it doesn't matter about legitimacy either, it's to do with read permissions etc. So if this is the case, you need to do a clean install. If you really want to take the nostalgia trip back to Land Warrior I wouldn't give up just yet and I don't mind helping. It's a doozy. Once you post the specifications I'll see if can emulate the system and duplicate the bug. |

Okay, these are my system's specs, I hope they are specific enough, if not, tell me and I'll try to write more:
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit RAM:4GB CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8700 2.53GHz GPU: Nvidia Quadro FX 770M with 512MB memory As for the installation, I installed it from an old CD, I downloaded and put DFLW on this CD back in 2010, but on my old computer which had way worse specs and Windows XP, the game worked fine, the last time I installed the game from this CD was about a year ago on my old computer. |

You're welcome.
BTW I ran a few tests and kept coming up with hw3d_deviceno = 0 as the default setting. Reference: When I lock the CFG file it goes through the test each time the game is started, after the test the game loads OK. I use Windows 8.1 and Radeon graphics at a desktop resolution of 1920x1080p and DFLW expands to full screen just fine at a game resolution setting of 1024x768. |

OK Nvidia Quadro FX 770M
Closest I can match with real hardware is a Lenovo i3 with Radeon Mobile graphics. DRIVERS Though not handy in all cases, using legacy (old) graphics drivers is a solution for systems such as yours - many times you just don't need updated drivers especially on integrated systems and many newer games run fallback solutions on detection of older system drivers and hardware. Depends on what you prefer. I run legacy Radeon drivers myself. The current set of ATI Crimson drivers wreak havok no end to my system. Yet ........ I can still run anything from Pong to Doom 3 with the legacy drivers. |
