Windows Xp CD Repair how to do it from desktop

man this was something i really had to do.

you can do this from Desktop without being in Safe-mod or reboot system to run from the CD ether.

disable all items that don't need to be running Anti-virus/firewall/anti-ad-ware and anything other close them out. it would make it run faster.

1.) OK have Windows Xp Family Cd in the tray.
2.) Start>Run> type in: CMD hit enter (dos prompt should come up).
3.) type in: SFC /PURGECHACHE
4.) after next line type in: SFC /SCANNOW

A small box should come up and start to look for windows files to see if any need to be replace, this can take a long time, if there are a lot of files bad or not listed it will replace back into system from the Windows Xp Cd.

taken me a 1hr and 30min to finish scanning


5.) when all is done with Type in: Exit hit the enter key thats it.

thank god my system is running normal again.

yea no more doing it bootup CD, i think it really good to know.

Yeah, it's a commonly known thing among us techie types, and it's good to put it out there for others to learn about. The only thing I will warn about is that because you are replacing corrupt files with ones from the XP disk, you may need to do the updates again, because it puts older files back on the system. However, it's better than reinstalling!!

yes steve you can do it from desktop.

come in handy if for some reason windows is booting up or closing down a bit funny.

yea redo the update should be done after doing this.

will i had to use this again my mirosoft netframe work gone bad totally.

mainly 2.0 is no longer anygood got error from it trying to instill net framework 3.0
