What to do with really old machine
P2 MMX with 240 MB RAM and 2 GB HDD. Is there a linux small enough to handle these specs?

dedicated firewall - smoothwall

mine was running on less then those specs (200mhz cpu, < 100mb of ram) and it ran perfectly.


Or as my friend suggested, paperweight, door stop...

Could fry it on purpose, watch the circuits sizzle, expload the cpu

could try slackware and use iptables as a firewall.

Smoothwall is better - They have stripped it down to bare minimum - Plus it has a nice web interface for configuring much of the firewall functions.

the new version supports filtering traffic both ways, instead of just in.
