We're Going To Open War
We're Going To Open War'
Updated: 21:54, Friday July 14, 2006 Hezbollah's leader has pledged "open war" on Israel after multiple air strikes across Lebanon. Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah also warned an Israeli warship that had been firing missiles into southern Beirut would be destroyed. The naval vessel has since been damaged in a rocket attack. He said: "You wanted open war. We are going to (wage) open war." His audio-taped declaration was aired less than an hour after Israeli missiles struck Hezbollah headquarters and his house in southern Beirut. Elsewhere, Beirut's airport was attacked for a third time, while Southern Lebanese suburbs and the guerrilla's radio station have also been blasted by warplanes. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has approved more attacks on Lebanon and his security chiefs said the Israeli army would begin hitting more targets during the night. Hezbollah fighters have fired more than 70 rockets at towns in northern Israel. Meanwhile, Palestinian gunmen blew up a portion of the Gaza-Egypt border wall. The attacks follow a night of Israeli air raids on Thursday, which saw at least three people killed and 55 injured in Beirut. The Lebanese Army responded by firing anti-aircraft rounds and missiles across the border at Israel. A rocket killed a mother and a child when it slammed into a house in northern Israel, an ambulance service said. An emergency session of the UN Security Council to discuss the escalating crisis is now underway in New York. Lebanon's UN ambassador claimed Israeli aggression was a "flagrant violation of all international" laws. Israel's ambassador said Israel was reacting to an act of war after an initial Hezbollah raid, in which two Israeli soldiers were abducted. He added 500 rockets and mortar shells had been fired on Israel in the past 48 hours. At least one missile hit Haifa, the country's third-largest city. At least 73 Lebanese have been killed in the fighting, the fiercest since 1996 when Israeli troops still occupied part of southern Lebanon. It coincides with a major Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, following the kidnapping of a 19-year-old corporal in a cross-border raid by Hamas militants. Israel is demanding the return of the teenager along with the two other soldiers captured by Hezbollah. ------------------- im surprised no1 else has brought this up, as it is a major incident |

trying to get soldiers back should not involved bombong the departure lounge of the international terminal of an airport and killing upwards of 300 people nor turning away UN ships who are trying to evacuate the very people that were told to leave. Isreal has overstepped its mark here IMO...
