Problems with f1-f12 keys(JOTR)

For some odd reason my F1-F12 keys dont work with JOTR!Ive tried using game defaults too dont work!Anyways i looked around the forums and didnt find anything about this!
My computers

OS: XP
Alienware Area 51 7700(i think is the number)
3.0 Ghz
Nvidia Geforce 6800
like 512 of RAM

theres alot more lol

Shouldnt be anything to do with my computer as far as anything else!

It might be a XP computer problem with the game!

No ever since i started using the games on my new computer which will play any game there is its been acting up on all games for nova im not sure if the others are cause DFX and JOTR are only ones isntalled so far!But the F1-F12 seem to be only keys for both games it wonts to quit working my F1-F4 has never worked on DFX though since i had game! I dont think i had a problem before on ME with JOTR but i never have played JOTR enough to remmber sicne it was always laggy until i got this new computer which is the bomb for gaming!Is there any reasons why the F1- F12 keeys would stop working in games!Im not even sure if the F1-F12 is wokring out of game!Anyways i think its something game wise!Maybe keyboard is conflicting with something!I dont think the keyboard can be it cause other buttons work fine and my fine!I mean i got them working several times with same keyboard it use to be the keyboard used for bhd and it worked fine on me! I tried keyboard for me on DFX and it has never worked for F2-F4 for DFX like i said!So it has to be something game wise cause none of buttons work on XP for those i mentioned!

Alright i figured it out!!!It is very tricky on what it is cause i know all keyboards dont have this key!I have wondered since i had one on a keyboard myself what it does!Its called F Lock its the reason it locks up f1-f12 so they cant be used anytime!Once i pressed it a green light came up on my keyboard meaning it was off so i tried dfxtreme they all work now!If you would like to see the key im talking about here are a few pictures of it on different keyboards!Although mine is a kinda small key left of my esc key!

that was my next guess, i have a logitech keyboard to. aparently this is a great feature... uh thanks logitech.

fyi there is a reg patch out there that disables this 'feature', i can dig it out if u r interested

why would they even have a f-lock setting to start with? child proof it so they kids can't get into bois? maybe.

seem odd to even have some thing like that to start with.

i see no reason for it at all, unlease it was put there so system don't have setting for f-keys

it enables you to have 24 function keys instead of 12

problem is the default setting is f1-f12 are OFF

The #@%#ng F lock key is a "feature" on my Microsoft Keyboard as well, i just removed the key wich means i cant accidentlly mess with it but could if i ever wanted to turn it on or off...

got a similar key on my gaming keyboard which is a K lock so that you can lock it for when you are in gaming using the voice over net thingy
