Need PHP Hosting HELP going CRAZY!

Hello,

I need to find a host for a PHP board i may be making. My forums at Cody-7's Designs are made by Invisionfree - they provide the forums for you, a very nice deal. But, the problem is, it has two banner ads, and i ABSOLUTLEY HATE banner ads - Especially the "ads by Gooooooogle" ads because google is worthless. There are plenty of other search engines. PLENTY.

Anyways, i want to start managing my own phpBB forum, specifically so i don't have to pay for ad removal! I've searched all over the net and never found a good host because if i do find i PHP host without forced ads, there's always a catch - like a hidden fee, or forums posts required, etc.

I would like:
Hosting of any size (2MB 50, 300, i don't care)
must be add free, that's why i'm switching to phpBB forums lol
Obvisouly PHP compatilbe
FTP uploading.

If any of you know of i good host like this, i thank you in advance!

I searched goooooogle and found lots of sites that host your website for free with php and mysql..

some of the top results

http://www.free-webhosts.com/free-mysql-database.php
http://freehosting.hostrave.com/
http://dhost.info/
http://www.newbiesite.com/
http://www.netfreehost.com/

Your asking for alot for complete free hosting with no terms, mysql, php, ftp and no ads tho..

What's so bad about paying $6/$10/yr?

I would have offered you cheap hosting but i'm shutting down my company. Don't have the time. I'm actually buying my personal hosting through HostGator.com... 99.9% uptime guarentee and it's only 14.95/m for 10gb and 100gb of bandwidth.

Well, i don't think that my terms for free hosting is that un-reasonable. Since i'm going to upload some PHP forums (i'm new to this) it takes up very little space. I really don't care how much space, or weather the bandwidth cap is really low. I'm just looking for ad-free, and a kind of "no strings attached" type of thing. For example, most of the free hosting sites either didn't have FTP uploading (pretty much needed if you want to upload a bunch of files) or, one site required you have a domain name - that costs money!

And there is a world of difference from free sites, and really cheap hosting like $5 a month, but i'm 16 and don't have a credit card. It would be cool if you could stuff dollar bills in your floppy drive and upload them

P.S. What's the difference between MySQL and PHP?

Lol, for the site http://www.free-webhosts.com/free-mysql-database.php it lists over 20 hosts on the 1st page. Here's the hidden catches as follows:

1) HostGator - Only free for 30 days
2) GameWarrior - Banner ads.
3) 100Webspace - Banner and text link ads.
4) Xr 4 Free - Requires domain name. Does that sound free?
5) WebPros - Banner ads.
6) The 112 - "Our quota has been filled, please try again later."
7) thru 18) all force banner ads.
19) Hostrave - Signed up for them but looks very sketchy & unprofessional.
20) eCom webhost - Looks 100% no strings attached, but "temporarily disabled" is under the free signup section.

Look what onnuke.com snuggled in thier TOS section:

See why it's so hard just to get 10 MB or less PHP hosting withoud worthless adds?

But thanks for all the links, i'm still looking through 'em. What's the "portal name for" ?

I know what your asking for is small. But think of it from a much bigger prospective.. Add 1000's of people to that list and pretty soon your running a few dedicated servers that costs $300+ a month each for hosting free websites that make the host no money what-so-ever. 1000's of signups will come very quick (I'd give it 1-2 months or less) with free ad-less hosting with ftp, php, mysql, which all also take up space and resources.

Yeah, i have thought about it like that. I've always wanted to get a few game servers but any kind of dedicated servers are very expensive. I've been able to find plenty of free, ad-less hosting but non of them support PHP or SQL.

I guess, what's the point of free hosting anyway because servers cost so much, and people can't get a page without ads?

Thanks for your help, though! I guess i know about all my options out there

Free hosting brings in potental customers.. it's just a form of advertising, and a very good one at that.. most people will start with free and end up paying later. Most of the companies that offer free hosting leave out php/mysql/ftp because they want you to pay for it.. If they offered that for free there would be no reason for most people to pay for the hosting. Most of the smaller companies that do offer free php/mysql/ftp are one hit wonders and end up closing a few months later, or figure out they can make a nice buck with a few ad's on peoples sites.

Maybe you can find a host that will accept a money order as a payment since you don't have a credit card. There are plenty of hosts out there that will host you for a year for $5-$10. And at 16 you can get a money order pretty easily at any bank and most supermarkets..

A good place to find these hosts is at http://www.findmyhosting.com/

Thanks for all your help guys

P.S. Does anyone happen to know a way to "remve" adds from those pages anyway, lol! Because, they say you're "not allowed to remove them", not like you could.

You could. I know how. But that's illegal, and against the TOS. Maybe you should start paying, or accept what get's thrown at you. Ads are gonna come with free hosts. Also: You can find some post in forums free hosting. Those are the ones that often have no ads.
