I thought it was a good language, just a tad bit harder then php to figure out on your own. I lernt ASP and then PHP and that helped a bit

Asp is a lot harder. I tried to learn it back in 10th grade but gave up because I couldn't get the software that came with the book to install.

ASP.net is what the pro's use.

ASP has now turned outdated and gone, but Coldfusion and PHP are now in . Mostly because ASP has no function for Mysql databases which is highly prefered by webmasters

Hope you're not serious about that remark, the majority of companys use asp rather then php. Secondly theres MSSQL for ASP which has more functions then MySQL. And you can use ASP with MySQL

Yeah sorry Tecoma ASP is not gone. Look at all the major websites...they use ASP.

BTW... PHP is becomming more popular because it is easier to use. ASP I believe can do a lot more. NTM they come out with updated versions of it just like PHP5!

ASP? What?

ASP? What?

Have not heard of it. Not being sad or anything, if anyone can tell me about it that will be good. Something to do with website making I think. Or programming. I may go back to this forum later.

ASP has the big advantage in that it is backed by microsoft, microsfot has standard certifications and all that official stuff for ASP so that employers can know what someone knows when they employ them, PHP by its open-source nature dosent facilitate this, theres nothing to stop someone saying "I know PHP! Hire me!" only to find out that they only have a basic understanding of PHP.

ASP being backed by a major corporation helps in as much that their more likely to update it, find and fix bugs etc etc and development is more guaranteed/stable. That and probably in alot of countries there are legal laws that guarantee quality and that...

thought there was a difference between asp and asp.net.

.net has lots of languages in it, but u just use the same program for it. ASP has almost the same functions as php i believe, but because php & mysql is totaly free, and better supported with linux, lots of webhosts have that.
If you check, more people start with php, then with asp.

btw, mysql has some new stuff in it, but i think you always can use postgresql. Most of the time i use that, and lots of languages support that kind of database. It has more functions then mysql, although mysql just updated, and has put some new things in it.

Never really tried to learn asp. I think php, c++ & java is enough.

Yeah

Yeah that is true. I don't even like Microsoft, even though they made Microsoft XP. But they make dumb programs. That's just me.

And I didn't like ASP when I heard it.
