Karate Kid Star Dies

American-Japanese actor Pat Morita, who starred as Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid films, has died at the age of 73.

Morita died at his home in Las Vegas from natural causes, according to his wife Evelyn.

The diminutive actor's parents were Japanese immigrants who moved to California and became fruit pickers.

Morita spent much of his early life in the hospital with spinal tuberculosis, only to be sent to a World War Two internment camp after he recovered.

He later abandoned a career as an aircraft technician to become a comedian in cabarets and later television series.

He rose to fame in such series as Happy Days and MASH.

But he became a star for his role as Ralph Macchio's mentor Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid films.

He was nominated for the best supporting actor Oscar after the first film in 1984.

Morita played a quiet caretaker who guided teenager Macchio to fight back against his bullies.

There were three sequels in 1986, 1989 and 1994 in which he also appeared

will i think he play in roles charters real good, he did get some ****ty movies in the pass, but there were some really great movies he was in like Karate Kid and others.

he'll be miss a lot.

i really like Karate Kid & Karate Kid 2 were the best.
