Novalogic to use Unreal Engine 3?
According to the news post below Vivendi, NovaLogic's distrubitor at America, have signed a global license agreement for the Unreal Engine 3.
And Vivendi and NovaLogic are partners so.........will we getting an DF or JO game with an Unreal Engine in it? VIVENDI UNIVERSAL GAMES SIGNS GLOBAL LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR UNREAL® ENGINE 3 FOR NEXT GENERATION GAME DEVELOPMENT LOS ANGELES, CA and RALEIGH, NC – July 6, 2005 – Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) and Epic Games today announced a studio-wide agreement under which VU Games will license Unreal® Engine 3 tools and technology for next generation console and PC game development. VU Games’ internal and external development studios are licensed to use Unreal Engine 3 technology for next generation titles, which are expected to launch starting in 2006. Specific titles will be announced at a later date. “Our licensing agreement with Epic Games underscores VU Games’ commitment to developing top tier next generation products,” said Peter Della Penna, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Product Development for VU Games. “Unreal Engine 3 technology will enable us to create exceptional high quality next gen titles in a productive and cost effective fashion.” Mark Rein, Vice President and Co-founder of Epic Games said “VU Games has an incredible lineup of internal and external development teams that we know are going to benefit from working with Unreal Engine 3.” -------------------------------------------- YES! Hopefully a new game engine. It's kinda old news...but I figured I'd post this since it hasn't been posted here yet.

This does not mean they are going to use it. That company probably developes other games for other companies also. NovaLogic have a great game engine already. I don't think they would let that go.

Novalogic is always looking for new ways to improve their game, bring in new customers as well as more money. So, they will more than likely do whatever they can to reach that goal.

I think it would be a bad idea to use the unreal 3 engine, Plus Vivendi is only their distributer and that from my understanding means shipping of the game.
Besides look at Devistation that used the old Unreal Engine and that fell flat on its face, I bought it and only ever found 5 players online. So I would go a thumbs down if it was used, The engine they use now may have glitches but so do unreal and any other engine out there.

i will wait and see what Novalogic, Inc has in mind for it.
they may try to use it or see what they can do with it, if it don't work out then they may trash it totally.

Unless vivendi is doing something very very sneaky, NL wont be using the engine.
Vivendi os only the distributor of NL games, they have nothing to do with that area of development, the only way i could see that happening if vivendi is backstabbing the gaming companies it is distrbutor for. |

Unlimited gaming area. No need to download maps before playing on servers. Easy map Creation. downside DF Engine: Some graphic glitches with collision. Cheats are easly made availible with each update. Plus sides for Unreal engine: hmm able to build buildings, decorations adding your own textures terrain creation from within the editor. downsides to the unreal engine: limited gaming area. maps have to be downloaded before you can play. though the maps can be made graphically good it does take a lot of time to optomise them properly, Somthing that has lacked in the Unreal Community for years. This is my own opinion I think its correct as I have worked with the Old UnrealED and the MED and NILE also played the games, I think novas engine still has a lot of potential It just needs to be fine tuned in the collision department and a better cheat detection.
