i really enjoyed it myself, the CGI was pimp, kinda strange the way he managed to 'dodge 6 cars coming at him' :/
ending could have been slightly better, but it was good enough to pull it off. but it was a good ending, it would have happened if it was their first time on the planet |

Just got back from watching "War of the Worlds".
Steven Spielberg and Novalogic should get together. They both seem to be able to turn "shure fire winners" into just "pale imitations". The original film version had a story line which was miles better than this. The special effects are great but they shouldn't have messed around with the story. |

It is truly difficult for any movie maker to bring a great book such as War of the Worlds to the cinema screen and as the book itself was set in 19th century England, it is even more difficult to make a truly accurate representation that will appeal to contempory audiences.
Many great novels are bought to the big screen and often the original story has to be changed to fit in with a newly written screenplay. The James Bond novels by Ian Fleming where nothing to do with the eventual movies that were made based very loosely on them. As movies now often cost hundreds of milliosn of dollars to make I would imagine the producers, directors and most importantly of all the financial backers, are more interested in recovering the original cost of the movie and at leat some profit to put into future movie production.
