Interesting court case between the music and movie industry vs the piratebay taking place, was the 5th day today. So far it's been a battle with the M&M industries lack of knowlage and tendence to introduce new evidence without notifying the defence which is a "no no". M&M also have the anti piracy agency with them. It's a real interesting ballte, both parties of course have the best atternies that can be found in this country so there's anyone's game so far.

No links to any piracy site please! And no discussion about illegal content. This is only about the court case!

"STOCKHOLM - A copyright test case involving one of the world's biggest free file-sharing websites that could help music and film companies recoup millions of dollars in lost revenues started on Monday in Stockholm.

Four men linked to The Pirate Bay were charged early last year by a Swedish prosecutor with conspiracy to break copyright law and related offences.

Companies including Warner Bros., MGM, Columbia Pictures, 20th Century Fox Films, Sony BMG, Universal and EMI are also asking for damages of more than 100 million crowns ($12 million) to cover lost revenues."

the prosecution is almost laughable, they dropped half the charges on day 2 of the case and even had to change the wording of the charges becasue they still don't have a clue how bittorrents or the pirate bay work.

they actually went to court claiming TPB were copying copyrighted works.

they didn't even have proof that certain torrent files that they had been monitoring were even using TPB's tracker.

Yes and I also heared a witness for the case of M&M saying something along "This IP is very likley to be from THB's tracker" lmao. That was a vitness of anti pirat byrån (in the oposite of pirat byrån which is pro free downloading and support's THB's case. Easy to mix those two) which stands for Anti Piracy Agency (something along that) Not even they are sure about how torrent's work. It's their fricking job to know!

Lawyers tried to get homey with the accused by using shorts like "IRL" and so on, supprisingly didn't work that well haha

Roger Wallis a professor at the Royal Institute Of Technology and a music composer commented on filesharing to Swedish press:

During the 80ies record labels warned that the cassate tape copying would kill the music industry.

Roger Wallis says that it was the oposite, when friends copied music they helped promote the music. The same thing happens today with the help of filesharing, Willis claimed.

Roger Wallis was also in court today and the prosacution made a donkey out of themself again by personal assault (verbal) against him, the court had to call a 10 minute break to calm them down and to stop them from making a donkey out of themselfs again. Roger Wallis had some great combacks too.

When Professor and media researcher Roger Wallis left the stand yesterday, the court asked whether he wanted to be reimbursed for his appearance. “You are welcome to send some flowers to my wife,” he responded. In the hours that followed, many Pirate Bay supporters took this suggestion to hand.

Professor and media researcher Roger Wallis appeared as an expert witness at the Pirate Bay trial yesterday. He was questioned on the link between the decline of album sales and filesharing. Wallis told the court that his research has shown that there is no relation between the two.

He was heavily attacked by industry lawyers Danowsky, Pontén and Wadsted who did everything they could to discredit and slander his reputation. When Wallis was asked whether he wanted to be reimbursed for travel expenses etc, he light-heartedly suggested sending some flowers to his wife.

His statement was picked up by the large audience listening in to the live audio from the trial and flowers soon began arriving at the Wallis’ house.

Roger’s wife, Görel Wallis, wasn’t surprised by her husband’s whim in court:

“We have been married for 38 years. He proposed half an hour after we met and I said maybe. After a day, he had convinced me”, she said.

At a local flower store in Stockholm they had received 100 orders by 20.30 last night. Owner Kristian Skald said that two nearby stores had received an equal amount of orders.

“Last delivery was 33 bouquets Thursday night. There will be more to come on Friday,” the owner of the flower shop commented.

Today, Friday, the couple celebrates their wedding day anniversary and on Saturday it’s Görel’s birthday. Roger Wallis feels she is worth all the flowers she gets.

“She was very worried before the trial. They questioned my competence and that made her very sad. She hadn’t slept for two days,” Roger said.

Thus far, in an amazing show of generosity from a section of society labeled by the music industry as ‘thieves’, more than 4100 Euros worth of flowers, chocolate and gifts have been sent to the couple.

The Wallis’ soon ran out of vases for the flowers but Görel knows that sharing is caring and will distribute the flowers to all residents in their apartment building.

“We will make sure it will be beautiful here.”

It's not that one year is such a long time, but the fact of the matter is that they actually haven't done anything illegal. The juridic aspects have been swapped for political.

This trial has been very important because its outcome sets the tone about how the internet will look in the future. When tpb looses without actually doing anything illegal, but because they are the symbol that they arre, it does not look very bright.
