Ping in COD4

my ping in COD4 has been double recently for a reason unknown, if anyone has any ideas to help me shot for it

i have all the settings to low and it still does not go down, turned off everything in the background and still high...

is the gameplay actually laggy?
try pinging the server IP from command prompt

e.g. ping 87.54.145.123 -t

try resetting your modem - a friend of mine's connection will get bogged down every few days, he resets it and it clears up.

KB - my PB updates itself, i got XP and my computer gets restarted 2-3 times a day

Steve - yes the gameplay is laggy, and so if i open command promt --> type in ip with -t at end i will have less lag most likely?

ici - tried that several times, even left it off for about 24 hours and still like that, i cant remember my password to go and do it manually through an ip where my internet comes from so i can always sit here for a few hours messing around with passwords

nope but it will shouw ur true ping, sometimes the ingame browsers show bad ping times.

also put up the lagometer

/cg_drawlagometer 1

it will show connection / lag / packet loss

ok i found out what the problem was, i had my shadows turned on and when i turned them off it went back to normal lol
