The worthless United Nations continues to be useless. Iran goes into Iraqi waters and kidnaps 15 British sailors, one of them a woman, and the best they can do is to express "grave concern." Oh wow! Grave concern! I'm sure that really curled some beards in Iran. The U.N. originally intended to "deplore" the hostage-taking, but Russia objected. And here we thought that Putin was mad at Iran for not paying its bills! I guess not.
Face it. The U.N.'s response to this naked aggression shows that the organization serves no practical purpose and should be downgraded to a Sunday afternoon tea society.

Here you have an open-and-shut case of a rogue, dictatorial regime kidnapping and holding hostage innocent soldiers...soldiers that were not in Iranian waters when they were apprehended. The Brits have the GPS data to prove it. One of the sailors is a woman, making the situation all the more outrageous. On top of all this, Iran is parading the soldiers on TV...in direct violation of the Geneva Convention.

And what does the UN do? Nothing. Why? Because the UN is anti-American, and that makes it anti-Brit. It's time for not only the United States to pull out of the United Nations but for us to kick them out of the United States. Let's form another international organization composed of countries with elected governments that adhere to principles of economic freedom and guaranteed rights for their citizens. The UN? Give it Haiti. The two deserve each other.

The left always tells us we need the U.N. as a place for countries to settle international disputes. Tell me just one international dispute the UN has settled! It's a sounding board for third-world anti-Americanism. Nothing more.

when it was in the 30s and 40 we would have went to war if 1 of our sailors was kidnaped, but 15 have been kidnaped and the biggest thing i have herd us do is try to negotiate, try to see what the iranians want,tryingto figure out where we went wrong.

BTW, are China and USA considered to be ''friends''? Seriously, if they were united they'd create one big-ass superpower. Just wondering whether that would be better than the UN...

China and the US have no special relationship with each other outside the normal trading that takes part in the course of international events..

China and Russia have a interestin relationship, i think there were some threads on it a while back, search for "New World Order" in news as a title and i think youll find it.

Australia on the other hand are great friends with china, we recently had a round of negotiations fleshing out the free trade agreement, we now sell natural gas and uranium to china aswell as a stack of natural resources

The Prime Minister (Helen Clark) travelled to the US a week ago or something and did some business with George Bush about free trade or something, and they said that the ''US are great friends with NZ'', lol.

U.N get alot done right, but not evertyhing.

Just look at Africa, sure there needs to be more but they are still helping. And the problem is that for UN to do actions there need to be a signed peaceagreement unless its peaceneforcing of course or if "terrorists" are invloved. Without the UN there would be alot more crap going on in the world.
