Gaminf internet usage.
Hey guys, most of you know that I've been damned to the depths of satellite internet connection wich is no good for gaming.
However, Verizon wireless has made 3G available where I live. I get a good signal with a 2.5 MB/s download and 0.70 MB/s upload with around 95 ms ping. I tried some multiplaying in some novalogic games and even COD and it did great! Here's the problem. I've got a 10 BG per month download limit (350 MB's per day). so I'm just wondering how many MB's a typical multiplayer match uses? Also while I'm here, anyone know of a good download usage monitoring program? |

did you check with Verizon wireless if they have a unlimited internet plan
it may cost a bet more but over all it unlimited internet downloads me i have Verizon cellphone but not the internet part to it, to scare get charge extra on items download like images and reading the news on CNN or Foxnews.com i did it once to read some news item on CNN through the Cellphone! got charge under USD-5.00 for reading one loosely news item in the cellphone screen it self. (2min maybe to read the item) i would try to ask Verizon if they have a unlimited wireless plan & ask what the price on it would be. i have the internet option (use it) to connect my Pc through the Cellphone, but i would be charge extra for the service for the internet i to scare to go there lol i have Comcast crappy cable service stander package for the unlimited internet

You may need to make a deal, not with friends, but close too friends, and share out the cost of your internet to them, say $100. per month is costing you, then offer a deal to these guys that says "come in with me for unlimited downloads for $33.33 per month, a very tempting deal if you are in the sticks no internet, and have a need to download stuff, but do get a month in ADVANCE.
You may have a spare old PC that you may join to a LAN/hub so all is in the party. Depending on your intelect, experience or even age,...you will get burnt at the start, but DO get the month bond $33.33? "M" ps thats how it's done in many Aussie stickz...lol |

See Skinny although this is driving you CRAZY!...see yourself as a pathfinder, once you crack this hassle, you can BETcha another will come along, but in the meantime, your mission is to get a comfortable, cheap and practicable, internet connection to a remote location....easy!!!!
Others are depending on you!!! "M" Was a guy in Auz, trying to make a www. lan on a CB radio, don't know what a CB radio is??..don't ask! |

well I mean it lets me play MW2 now. before it wouldn't find a server. now it's working even with a "Strict" NAT type.... so IDK...
This is awesome though! the best part is that my connection renews the download usage on the 16th, so right now I have just a few days to use up 10 GB's. haha I've been going multiplayer crazy. |

Hey! How did you get 10 GB? I get a 5 GB limit via AT&T.
I live in Stickville too, and the 3G wireless is the only real option for broadband. Mine is $60/mo. Meanwhile, a guy I work with just tells me his 10 Mbps cable just got updated to 18 Mbps for free... |

I feel your pain Horse. Try verizon 3G. it's 10 GB's per month with 2.5 MB/s download for 80 bucks a month. still not cheap but it's better than dail-up or satellite. pluss it does fairly well in multiplayer...
oh and BTW, I found a good download monitor, I played 2 rounds of MW2 with a full server (about 35 to 40 mins of play time) and it only downloaded around 5 MB's. so, the download limit won't be a big problem. |
