Shadow Raider COOP - Single Player
UPDATING: Shadow Raider to SP Mission.
Shadow Raider is a map I made years ago and has been published in COOP and TDM versions in various places. We all know people can solo most COOP missions just fine but Single Player mission design is really a different kettle of fish compared to COOP. Playing COOP maps solo doesn't really do them justice so I'm working on bringing this huge mission over to single player. These VIDs are early days whilst making it over for SP. So I've been thinking of doing this for a while |

Hopefully it's going to be enjoyable and last the average player quite a while.
It's singularly event driven (single player) and loaded with AI confrontations. AI meltdown with freezing, glitching, teleporting, vaporizing can happen unpredictably with missions of this size. So it looks like I'll have to use a mission link and split it to keep it par spec. This doesn't mean it's going to be 2 separate missions or a campaign, it's still a single mission. I'll probably have to restrict the player moving the entire length of the map until after the mission link because even a skeleton crew of enemy at all the active positions would be needed to engage the player. Doing this just in case of an encounter would be risking the meltdown mentioned above or I'd just end up running out of objects and triggers before completion. On the positive side a new set of AI can be loaded into the mission to extend it without this problem. Original objectives and completed tasks can be maintained and coordinated. Even with the hardware/software restrictions of the day it looks like Nova had a lot covered and we're covered here also. |
