Ping spikes on LAN

Hi,


I'm running 2 PCs on WinXP, both are AthlonXPs and one has a GF4 Ti4200 and the other has a GF2 Ti.

I play a lot of BHD LAN games with my dad but tonight it went really weird, my ping went from the normal 20-40 to around 50000! We quit, started again and it still did it. We reinstalled and it STILL did it.

This has happenened in the past but then it just sorted itself out. I'm running a 10Mbps HomePNA network btw.

I did the ping facility in XP and the network and worked at 1ms and I could access the network normally. Other games work, it's just BHD.


Any ideas?

Maybe a bad cable? Thats one of the options and the only 1 i know.

It's really weird isn't it!

I've contacted Novalogic and they are stuck so I've checked the network card as suggested and things like that.

I've reseated the cards in their PCI slots and I've also changed driver to a more recent one, so maybe I've fixed the problem.

BHD is working at the moment (!) but it has been an intermittent problem whereby I can play with a ping of 20ish and then it shoots up to 50000, so weird..
