scandisk
i know this is a dumb question and i coulnt find the thread b4 this but how do you scandisk in winxp home?

1.) Start>run type in: CHKDSK /F
/F is for fast scan (5-20min) /R is for through scan (10-30min) New windows will come up press Y to scan as system boot up, then press Enter 2.) you all so get to it this way: right click-on "My Computer" open it, now look for your HHD C: drive or what every the you like to scan for error to fix, right click-on the HHD look for last item on the bottom of listing "Properities.." click-on it, now up top you see "tools" click-on it, in there you see many options to use. the "Local drive" is lock so you need to do the scan on bootup. pick what option you like to scan for then click-on ok> New windows will come up press Y to scan as system boot up, then press Enter when your finish you have to restart your system, then scan disk will kick in as it boot back to desktop. ![]() ![]()
