Stop the Voices!!!

*GROAN* Right now one of my neighbors is mowing his lawn!!! What an awful awful sound...argh.

At the end of this month I'll be fertilizing. Shortly thereafter I'll be mowing the darn thing...probably even watering it

So when do you guys mow? Do you even mow at all? Thank God I moved to a place with a smaller yard. My front and back yard combined aren't even the size of my old backyard.

the grass itself only needs to be 3-4 times a year, but the weeds in it grow faster than the lawn so every couple of weeks is when we should be doing it, often dont though

Every year we try to find more things to do with the back yard that reduces the size of our lawn. So far, so good. In 15 years we've reduced the lawn by, I'd say, 60%. Eventually we'll put a large deck on the rear of the house, further reducing the lawn.

But, until then, I have to mow that thing about twice a month (during mowing season). 'Fancy' grass is NOT indigenous to Nevada so we really have to fight to keep it growing. Figure THAT one out...

We turned the entire front yard into a circular driveway, completely doing away with the grass out there. Great!

Oh, and when I DO mow, it's usually Sunday morning - late (after the dew burns off the grass).

Lmao, that's cool. Nice projects to get rid of the yard. Brilliant!

One of my neighbors (who is a landscaper ) just put in a huge garden in the middle of his yard, effectively getting rid of probably 2/5 or 1/2 of that side of his yard.

Gardens look nice but man, they require more work than the lawn they replace. We've got a few flowers but that's my wife's stuff, and she has to maintain it.

We bought a truckload of bark one year and put it all over the ground that wasn't lawn, and where no flowers were planted.

More bark, less lawn. YES!

Uh, because Dr. Bullet asked when we mowed our lawns... and then it just got a bit out of hand.

But, this IS the "General Chat" section so I guess we can talk about lawns, bathtubs, kintergarten love affairs, bad stock investments, or...
