Angry Audio Failure in DFX2

Suddenly I have no sound at all in Main Menu or the game. The SG Mod (Now installed in it's own separate folder) works fine.

How did you move the SG mod into it's own folder (Copy, drag ... etc) ?

Could it be that one of the game files were accidently moved ?

Or perhaps the SG mod had overwritten one of the original game files that manages the sounds?

Yes I could have dragged a file away I will try to compare with SG Mod but I replaced the entire DFX2 with a backup, could it be Steam?
Can I get a list of dfx2 original files?
Are the sound(s) contained in a pff? If so I have a backup to try.

Mostly a codec issue, were you playing, when you lost the sound?
Can you play other audio files on your PC

Have you checked the basics, speaker fuction, power on???

What is your operating system?

... all games play sound including DFX2 SG Mod. Codec functions are absolutely irrelevant in this case.
"Have you checked the basics, speaker fuction, power on???" Not since Config.sys

Solution

The final solution was to move DFX2 from the steam folder to another location.
Delete Steam DFX2 Game Content.
Reinstall DFX2 to Steam From Steam Backup. Let it update then Activate the game, leave it and run DFX2 only from the external copy.
All sound now working.

Really sounds like a file was overwritten by the SG MOD (jmo).

Glad to hear you got it fixed !

I recon it was the Steam Environment. I swapped the process and the running copy does the same thing when in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common

Not a codec issue

Stomp, I don't know how you cope or bother, dump the steam ver. and get a copy of dfx1 and dfx2 of ebay or other, it's cheap now, and save yourself a lot of hassle.
