extreme weightloss

here in the states we now have once apon a time CVI (non-controlled perscription) drug generic name orlistat (better known as Alli 80mg now, before it was Xenical 120 mg) over-the-counter now. it's taken three times daily, commonly at least an hour before each main meal. basically the way it works is it stops absorption of .. well .. pretty much everything you eat.

i work in a pharmacy (and also very against unnatural weight loss), and it's amazing how many people can't just put down the fork. they would like to believe this drug justifies eating fatty foods constantly if you take this miracle blue capsule. the company that manufactures Alli covers their ass pretty well to hide some of the pretty serious .. and well .. disgusting side affects..

if you eat foods high in fat and oils (which a majority of people who buy this drug will), your body does not absorb most of it, so instead it shoots right through your GI track. one of the main sideaffects is pooing out pure fatty oils. nice huh?

for just sixty dollars you can get your starter pack and be on your way to a healthy and thin lifestyle in no-time. they tell you that it's a commitment once you start this program to eat healthy and exercise ..

ok .... so why in the hell do you need a drug to "help" with weightloss if your supposed to "commit to lifestyle changes" in order to take this drug.

also it is strongly advised that you take a once daily multivitamin while on this drug, because your body won't absorb what it needs from just three "healthy" meals a day.

and on top of that, most doctors don't hesitate to perscribe drugs that are Rx .. like phentramine, which basically breaks down in the body the same as "speed" and is also very very addicting .. the only thing OTC to come remotely close to these drugs is Sudafed (psuedophedarine "psuedo" meaning "false") and another drug that was pulled from the market not to recently ephedrine.

and whats even more disturbing is some insurance companies now cover most of these drugs,eventhough i've seen people litterly shell out thousands at my pharmacy for anti-rejection drugs, cancer and kemo drugs, and drugs that one might need to live, at least a little bit longer.

don't be surprised to see an increase in premature heartattacks and liver-failure cases caused from this drug, also. with the number of people with anorexia and are bulimic, this is a great attribute to "gaining the perfect body"

//edit

forgot to mention, Alli (orlistat) is only big because it's the first over-the-counter weight-loss aid to be FDA approved.

do they give you anything over there, drug wise? as in to stay awake, more energy, what have you? something like that can be easily justified, but for the common, over-weight, american to take perscription strength speed to loss weight faster isn't IMO

Food is equal to a drug for some, they can't stop eating.
