Wireless Connection Encryptions - WEP or WPA

Which one is better? Aren't they both 128bit?

WEP can be hacked in under 15 minutes by almost anyone with tools available on the internet, no matter what you use as your network key. The FBI cracked a WEP key in 3 minutes at defcon this year with tools available on the internet..

WPA is very secure, as long as you use a strong/random network key. The only known hacking method is brute force dictionary attacks..

The new standard is WPA2 that uses one of the strongest encryption algorithms at the moment, also know as AES. It's what I use at home with my Linksys WRT54G. You will need to get a patch from MS to enable WPA2 on Windows XP. You may also need to upgrade your routers firmware.

Here is a good place to get WPA keys: https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm

Send a message via ICQ to Steve
older devices are not WPA enabled, that would be the only reason to use WEP.

Man WPA is running very fast compared with WEP. Only problem is WEP did not appear with I did View Wireless Network. WPA does thus making it easy for possible intruders to pick their "tools"

P where do I get the WPA2 stupid MS site downloaded this Is that the patch?
