New laptop finally!!

Finally got my laptop today after about a month of waiting! This is pretty awesome although I am not really used to the wide screen and the keyboard! I hate new keyboards. the new control key is where my old function key was and the shift key is tiny.. argh.. why cant there be a standard??? I;ll get used to it like I did the old one tho.

Anyways, to the good stuff

MSI MS-1039 Barebone
15.4 WSXGA Non-Glare LCD (No dead pixels too )
AMD Turion64 MT-40(25W) 2.2GHz
2GB Corsair DDR400
100GB 7200RPM HD
ATi Radeon x1600 256mb dedicated graphics.
DVD+/-RW / DVD-DL / DVD-RAM
6 in 1 Card reader
1.3MP Camera
4x USB 2.0 / IEEE 1394 / DVI / S-Video / HD Audio / PCI-Express / PCI / WLAN / Bluetooth etc etc

All said and done only about $1,400. Which is way cheaper for the specs then buying from someone like Dell etc.

I debated waiting for the Turion X2 but there won't be any 15" with AMD X2 and ATi for awhile so I settled with this. I am very happy . It's a nice desktop replacement. Cheap and it's about 2-3 pounds lighter and a bit smaller then my old Acer plus it has more features and looks alot better. Very pleased esp since I got to put it on the 'company' card

No, it was rather cheap for the specs. Only about $1,400 because it was a barebone and I had to put it all together. I wanted it for a nice desktop replacement. I got sick of switching over to my desktop to run bigger apps, I also wanted to be able to play a few games maybe.

It works pretty good chief. I got 4,3XX points in 3dMark05 with the stock drivers and no tweaking, which isn't that bad for a mobile chip. It will run most games, probably not at the highest quality though. The desktop version will have alot better performance i'm sure.

Finally got a chance to play some games on this beast. It plays the Pray demo, F.E.A.R demo, Fable etc which are supposed to be pretty graphic intensive. There is no ghosting or choppyness at all, they run extremly smooth at 1024x768 (Which is A-OK for me). Haven't tried any other res'es. I didn't think it would cut through thoes games like it does... You wont be dissapointed with the x1600 chief!

edit:
plays prey flawless at 1280x1024! w00t!
