Hi Stevie,
Followed your instructions.... they were very clear, concise and easy to follow

Just one small prob...

The terrain appears in the map editor, and I can create a map on the new terrain. However once exported as a bms when I fire up landwarrior and go to the map I get an error msg
!unable to find detail texture
then
!unable to load detail texture

I have the terrain01_det file in my LW folder and with the 5 files in a folder on my desktop ?

I would be grateful if you would just iron out this little prob/ tell me where I am going wrong

Many thanks

HayZee

hiho. i think i know the problem.

all the five files need to be in the land warrior folder.

u have to select all five files then right click > copy. i.e. you need to copy all five files, and paste all five files into the land warrior folder. i dont think i explained clearly enough. but that should be the fix u need ( i hope ).

i thought about this when typing it up the other day. i'll try to word it better. at first i was only going to explain how to make the colour map and height map but i got carried away into a full tutorial lol.

thank you very much for pointing this out. and thanks for your comments. i would love to see some screen shots when you get it working, and i'll stick them on my site for others to see.

if u have put all the files in dflw, it must either be the

name of the file or file type.

or

the text is wrong in the .trn file.

its hard to check, i need someone else to have the same problem also.

;terrain values
color_map terrain01_c

detail_map terrain01_m
detail_texture terrain01_det

water_height 0 ;default, if zero will take from mission

5 files in both LW folder and folder on desktop r as follows

terrain01_c.tga
terrain01_d.pcx

yep...... spot on m8 n1 - working perfectly now

Just as a note I didn't use the clouds in photoshop, I used the terragen program and saved the file as RAW then edited in photoshop - produced quite a cool landscape

A bit more practice and I'll be seamless

Thanks for your time and patience

Great tutorial StevieB.

Just one thing, my terrain loads nicely into the map editor but when I try to load my mission it says "no height map" - I have gone over the .trn file and it looks like it should. I have even tried to change the height map in .trn file to an ingame map, but still don't work.

Any ideas?
