cheap cookwear

I moved into a new place here so I can go to school, and I picked up a 80pc cook wear set for around $60.. I knew it would be pretty cheap but damn I had to throw most of it away.

Soo cooking some hamburgers tonight and I put a frozen piece of hamburger in the frying pan and let it sit there for a about 30 seconds. Walk away and BANG. Took a look around and didn't notice anything. Sounded like a damn shotgun. So I was like damn my stove must be broke, so I walked over to it and BANG, BANG one after another, the frying pan jumped like 5" off the burner right in front of me. The damn thing warped like crazy in the middle. Scared the shizit out me because it was so loud. Tried taking the burgers out of the pan, melted the spatula from touching the pan just a little bit. The burgers were glued to the pan. Tried another pan I got in the set and the same thing happened.

So I take out the packaging on the cook wear and it says "Do not use under high heat" wtf? Doesn’t give a temperature, just says "high heat".

What am I trying to say here? Don’t buy cheap cook wear hehe

Yeah i'm going to get a re-fund.. I don't know tho as I used it under high heat rofl.. I mean I didn't even get through 1 burger without the thing warping and the spatula melting... plus the burger was glued to the 'non stick' surface. Put one of the 'microwave save' plastic dishes into the microwave on Medium heat and it melted after 45 seconds.. I broke a fork in 2 with my index finger and thumb with very little pressure.. Stainless steal my ass.

heres the set I bought:

nothing in this set is worthy for anything.. I prolly couldn't even beat a burglar with the frying pan cause it break in half..

Get real titanium ware, its great! Expencive though, but it can actually be used for preparing food lol

I only buy Titanium ware of high quality and stainless steel cooking ware.

A tip, want cheap forks and knifes, buy the thick IKEA ware, they are awsome and sturdy, aswell as its real stainless, and they are quite cheap.

I am going to spend a good £300 for pans and knifes when i leave home, - they will last you for 40+ years... The ones we got now, my dad bought in austrailia, 32 years ago, they still non-stick and have lasted long time

best pans

My sister got a nice knife when she helped a TV cheff (shes a cheff) and got a real nice Japanese knife, only problem is if you drop it, it will break lol (not a sign of bad quality in this case though, more to oposite)

And if you want quality knifes, get Japanese, their metal knowlage is out of this planet! Think Mike will correct me if I'm worng.

I went out to wal-mart and look around, bought 3 pans for $100 bucks. Still 'cheap' but I don't use them much and I cannot afford real pots and pans at the moment. Cooked a few times in them to test them out and they seem to be decent quality.

I tend to bend alot of forks and break alot of knifes so I did spend the extra bucks on some nice silverware and correl dishware tho

ST is right, any decent japanese blade will out do any european blade, goes for knives, swords, daggers, anything.

Remember that Japan has had 2500 years of working out what makes a good blade, and done it very sucessfully....

Japan probebly the best knowlage of metals. Remember, modern today can still not replicate the metal in the Samuraj swords. Germany might do the best European blades, (I have no idea) but Japan is defenetly the master in blade manufacturing, even though its not the quality of a samuri sword its still without competition.

Mike have you heared anything regarding the desition to restart the Samuri sword craftmenship, think there was one still alive who mastered making them. Think it was to preserve the craftmenship, think the guy was supposed to start teach how they are done. Heard anything more regarding this?

I have a full set of Revere (from Walmart) and I have no problems with any of it...of course I am a bachelor and I eat out quite a bit...I prefer to grill more in the summer..keeps the heat outside and makes me popular with the neighbors..
