Microsoft says that it has released the long awaited 64-bit versions of its mainstream operating systems to manufacturing. This would put them on schedule for a release at the end of April.

I thought they already have a 64 bit edition out?

So Microsoft want to screw even more money from the general public? I wonder if this will work as well as all the other Microsoft innovations?

hmm well you blame AMD really not MS, as they have brought out 64bit cpu's months and months ago. All MS have done is provided an OS that takes advantage of the architecture. |

I wonder what the difference is, like what we'd see different?

You wouldn't see an increase. Programs at the current are written to expressly take up 32 bits of cpu bandwidth. Being the case, it will not take up any more than 32 bits, even if you have a 64 bit processor. Developers are going to have to make essentially two different versions, one for 32 and one for 64. And yes, in this case, MS is simply catering to the need of the public.
For an excellent education on the actual differences, and a little better explanation than mine, check this out: http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com...bit-processors |
