Post Half-Life 2 Pre-Loading Begins

Half-Life 2 pre-loading began to Steam account holders yesterday. Over the coming days, those who have selected the pre-loading option will have encrypted Half-Life 2 files delivered to their PC. No purchase is required to pre-load HL2, but is required to activate the game. Purchase options will be released soon. Then, the moment the game is made available, those who have pre-loaded and purchased Half-Life 2 via Steam will be authenticated and ready to start playing.

Any idea of a release date for the full game Steve? It seems to have been put back an awful lot?

Regards

i missed your post, i guess that's not acceptable?

and your right i haven't forgotten about the remarks you made that you didn't back up and came from a misunderstanding on your part. don't know why you decided to bring it up on the forum again.

as for HL2 as far as i can tell be reading the steam forums the game could be released during September, note that the game was supposed to be released last september - yes it has been put back an aweful lot.

there was a hoax post on the steam forum the other day from someone who hacked Gabe's account saing the game was going gold this week. unfortunatley not true.

valve's latest date was "summer 2004" and according to some gives them until sept 20th.

seeing as the game is being pre loaded then it is finished and ready to go, and it would just be a case of it going gold and getting the cd's done.

best estimates are 30th or so of September but dont hold your breath. the steam servers are maxed out right now. and no doubt there is an army of crackers attacking the downloads to amke them work

As I understood it the "misunderstanding" was on your part as there have been a few posts on these forums which have been at tke very least questionable which you failed to notice or do nothing about.

I cannot bring them all to mind here nor do I need to but I do suggest you restrict any contreversial material be it on the subject of politics...religion... or anything else that may illicit a strong exchange of views and restrict these forums to matters pertaining to games and nothing else.

I might also point out the hysterical over reaction on every forum to the effect that "RULES ARE BEING ENFORCED"...the message got through with out it apperaing on every bloody forum!

it's a general announcement not an 'hysterical over reaction'. when added to the forum it appears in every section. a lot of visitors only visit specific sections of the site, gfx, map making, general, humor, only their game etc. so it is the only way short of mass emailing all members we can even attempt to get through.

the message definatley hasn't got through because i have to delete threads and posts several times a day - every day. as long as people keep breaking rules it is our responsibility to make visitors aware that we have rules and what those rules are. we would be irresponsible not enforce rules and make them as clear as possible.

doesn't that make sence?

so much happens on the site that people don't see because of the swift action of the admins. this is hard to understand unless you have to do it yourself.

/sneaks into forum with head down and avoiding gazes...

So the second part of the preloading happened on 2nd of September (audio this time)
No confirmation about dates yet. Some fools are touting next year as release date but this doesnt fit with a company trying to fit a pre-streaming netwrok solution into its business plan.

We wait with bated breath. I have had mine on order for some time so I expect I will get it when it comes.
