dvd recorders can store more then 120 min, it depends on the recording type (those EP (extendeded play), SP (??), etc).

I recorded at least 6 2-hour movies to one dvd.

I would get one of those dvd recorders that also have the harddrive (forget what they are called) - You can record to the harddrive, then latter move the recording to a dvd if you really want to keep it.

That is what we have - And we use the harddrive recording more then the dvd. its great for recording things such as a tv episode that you want to see, but not necessarily want to keep. Saves you from having to constantly burn to dvd's.

Our's also allows us to erase the dvd and re-use it.

Come with three L1,L2,L3 ports and S-Cable ports 3 of them as will and extra posts for other things, you has a timer as will a editing tools as will.
watch you Tv-channels (Tv-cable) on it like your VCR player did.

found you can burn to a DVD-R lets say you only use Half of the DVD and you like to add-more to it, you can like a week later you add more to the DVD-R when you totally down with it finalize it totally to play on any DVD players after your totally done with it.

formate time line for DVD-RW:
HQ (high Quality) 60min, full dvd quality (all DVD players) 1hr
SP (Stander Play) 120min, stander DVD quality (all DVD players) 2hrs
LP (long play) 180min, Similar VCR 3hrs
EP (Extended play) 240min, Similar VCR 4hrs
SLP (super long play) 360min Similar VCR 6hrs

there is so much more you can do with the DVD it not even listed like editing the movie clips as you like, you recorded DR WHo and there are Tv-ads in it, you can edited it out then save it after and more to it as will.
