New to map making DFE...need help

Hi, I got Delta Force Extreme Full Version for Christmas. I've been playing the demo for months. I love playing this game. I am amazed with Maps that people have been making i think its cool how this could be done. So I played around with the MIssion Editor, actually I read page 8 and 9 of the manual. Started playing and seeing how things are done. Its actually a complicated process with waypoints and triggering so and so. I had a idea of a map to build so I started to look in insert item list. From not knowing:

how to insert (insert mode) an item

3d wireframe

depth pixel feature (been wondering how to get items into buildings, zoom in) hahaha

or lining up items like a fence

........to actually having a started map with buildings, trees, vehicles and so. Once you get started your imagination lets go. Never thought I could get even this far. I still have alot to learn but its fun doing so. I even getting to the point that height adjustment is something I picked up a few days ago. I was amazed how I added a guy in the guard tower using the height. Facing is just the direction Im cool on that. Started playing with the ROLL after doing some reading. I needed to adjust jeeps in the grassy area so they look parked better. PITCH is something I got to play with and learn better.
The AI variables is another thing I have to learn better.

Right now im doing the layout of the whole map later I will add the waypoints and objectives among other things. I'm reading and learning as I go and trying things out.
I have a few questions that I need help with or better expained to me.

1. how do you add water to your map? I see in the general information there is a setting for Mission Overrides: water level, water color and murk percentage. When I add info into the blocks it shows the water in various spots that I assumed is preset in the terrain already (like it turns them on). I only want water in a few spots and not where is already is.

2. I see that there was a file for more terrains, which I downloaded last night and have not tried it as of yet, but I was wondering has anybody made buildings, decorations, people to be added into your maps?
I mean, I think making items (if possible) will give us a bigger field of map making and different maps.
Anybody know if this can be done?

Thanks for any help on these questions.

Country,
To add the water just check the water box and raize or lower the water level by adjusting the value. If you want to be able to see under water, set the water murk to a value of 1.

If you use modified terrains, then be aware that anyone playing a map that was made with a modified terrain must have to same modified terrain installed before they can play it.

As far as I know the only items that can be added are in the Modified Items.def file which can be found at

i'm using the c6m03_b terrain that is included. I got the water to show but, is there anyway the move or delete the water that exists and add your own water area like a swampy patch? I don't want the water thats preset already.

the ground levels cannot be altered. That would be nice if we could do that. I don't think that the water can be raized in one locale area.
There may be another map that you could use to get the swamp scene you want. Just set the water level to about 40 to 50m and then cycle thru the maps untill you find what your looking for.

Like I said I new to this. This is my first and I have been making this map only a week and I like how its turning out. The water is not really important to me in this map. I just wanted to have a little bit in a certain area only.

You think other items such as buildings, vehicles, people, objects will available in the future?
I could think of more items that could be used in the game. Theres so many maps out there using the same items that one might get bored seeing everyday. Any person could be contacted on this subject?

Thanks for your help.

At this time ,NOVA probaly won't release another patch with new items. The only new items would be in the modified items.def file at
http://dfbarracks.com/downloads/inde...tion=dc&cid=13
These items in the .def file are already in the DFX med. For some reason NOVA didn't make them availiable for use. The .def file opens them for you. It includes new buildings and objects, but no new people.

Thanks
just downloaded at install it. Looks good.

My computer's hard drive fried 2 nights ago. I had to buy a new one.
I lost my map I was building. Lucky for me, I was making notes as I was building it. Also to do lists like when I tested out the map I would see what I had to change and I wrote the adjustments down then I would work on them and retest it. I was sick when I lost my map.Over a weeks work was there. But it was fresh in my mind and I recreated it in 2 nights where I left off on it.

Thanks for the help and info. It will be sometime until I learn all of this stuff. But I will let you know when its done and share it with you and the others.
