dangerous, hmm well you could kill your computer :/

it's ok as long as you read alot and carefully, and take it steady.

some ppl give it a miss and say it reduces the life of the components. this is true to an extent but the part will be obsolete before it dies from overclocking so i say fry the chip

example my 2500+ can run the equivalent of a 3600+ chip. thats a heck of a boost for no extra money

Make sure you get a lot of fans or it is going to lock up a lot.

if you still have your stock cooler on, i.e. you haven't boutght one yourself, then it probably won't be up to the job of a large over clock.

generally there is a a setting in the BIOS to auto shut down the comp at a certain temp.

you would have to check intel.com to see what the temp is rated to on your specific chip.

you can also check the temp in your BIOS, to see if things are getting hot.

50 degress C is warm, but if it starts getting highter then keep an eye on it. e.g. 60 + you def. need a new cooler

i got the intel chipset it boost it up some, you have to look up the type of chip and the MHZ it running at.

i seem to boost it like 500mhz most for me. it very on the chip CPU you are using. it will not over clock all it do is reset it to run even better.

like all thing a chipset is already in your system, but some times they release a new virsion of it.

the chipset is item that is auto-set, you can't use it to reset the setting with. preset.

you can ask them if you can call tech-support ask them what chipset your system is using and if there a update for it.

call the tech support team who build your system MFG or who you pay

Intel chipset listing "Click-here"

my is "IntelĀ® 815 Chipset Family" it was updated around 12/2004, Intel 4 1400MHZ

got my system back in 2001 Gateway 1400 serials it was a rip off. USD-2.800.00 could got more option/items for 1.600.00

Ask Sony for the Motherboard specs...if you can't disable it in BIOS there is usually a motherboard jumper.

if you are going to overclock, i would suggest you buy fans and fill all your slots. You can get good fans for real cheap at newegg.com If you are lucky, you can fine them for about $1.00 each. But for a decent working fan, you are looking around maybe $3-4
